Welcome to The Heart of a Singer Podcast. I’m Sarah Toth, Heart Coach, mom of 2, trained opera singer, and passionate lover of Jesus. This podcast is a home for Christian women who have trained and worked in singing, opera, and musical theater; but maybe you’ve found yourself in a place of unrest, bottled-up emotions, and even feeling far from God. But through the hurt of your circumstances, you might be feeling an invitation from the Lord - to learn to hear his voice more clearly and to open up yours in a new way. It’s time to move out of your desert season, musically, spiritually, and emotionally so that you can move forward in a healthy way and step out into the next chapter that God has for you. So I invite you to open up your journal, grab your favorite pen, and then join me, as we move from Stuck to Thriving, while unlocking your heart again to beat for His Kingdom Purposes. • 64. How to Start Singing Again (Even If You Don’t Like Your Voice Right Now)
    Jun 27 2025

Have you stopped singing for a while—and now you're not sure how to begin again? Maybe you’ve been through a big life change which has left you with no desire to sing. If opening your mouth feels vulnerable or discouraging, you’re not alone.

In this episode, I share the honest first step to getting your voice back: giving yourself permission to sound “bad” at first. I walk you through the two stages of returning to your voice, offer encouragement from my own postpartum story, and remind you that starting small is still starting.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that it’s okay to begin again—this is it.

    Blessings, Sarah 🌟

  • 63. Increase Vocal Resonance, Volume, & Range with This Diction Hack
    Jun 18 2025

Want to increase your vocal range, clarify your tone, and unlock more confidence in your singing voice—even on high notes?

In this practical episode, I’m sharing one of my favorite diction tricks from years of classical and operatic training. This will help you improve your vocal resonance, find more volume in your singing voice, and make your high notes feel easier - just by adjust when you sing consonants in a word.

    You’ll discover:

    • How certain consonants could be stealing your sound
    • Why vowels carry your singing voice and how to lean into them even more
    • How to navigate high notes on tricky words

We’ll even apply this technique together as we sing “Happy Birthday”!

Whether your singing with your kids in the car, or practicing at home for your next performance, this episode will help you have a quick win to get you singing better. Let’s go! Blessings, Sarah 🌟
