Once aware of these patterns, we can start to rewrite them. For example, when you catch yourself thinking, “I’m not good enough,” pause and ask, “Is there actual evidence for this, or is it just an old tape playing in my mind?” This gentle questioning makes space for growth.

Now, let’s talk tools. One of the best frameworks I use with my clients is the GROW model: Goal, Reality, Options, Way forward. Start by setting a clear goal—maybe it’s speaking up in meetings or launching a new project. Assess your current reality without judgment—where are you now, and what’s holding you back? Next, brainstorm your options, even the wild ones. Your way forward is about taking one small, concrete step. Confidence isn’t built overnight; it grows with each promise you keep to yourself. Even tiny wins, like making a challenging phone call or joining a new group, become the building blocks of self-belief.

Let’s not forget the power of body language. Your posture sends signals not just to others, but to your own brain. Stand tall, shoulders back, make eye contact. These shifts can actually change the way you feel inside, making you feel more assertive and in control.

If you struggle to imagine your future confident self, try modeling someone who inspires you. Notice how they speak, carry themselves, and handle setbacks. What can you adapt from their approach?

Finally, build self-trust one promise at a time. Set a small, doable task for today. When you follow through, celebrate that win—out loud if you can. This is how you show yourself that your word counts and that you can rely on you.
