    *Former Washington State Senator Adam Kline was instrumental in getting legislation passed to change the name of King County from William Rufus DeVane King to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. County. In 1986 King County Council members Ron Sims (D) and Bruce Laing (R) passed a resolution in 1986 changing the county's name to MLK. However, only the state legislature could change the name of a county. Then Senator Kline introduced legislation eight times between 1999-2005. On April 14, 2005 Governor Kristine Gregoire signed the bill officially changing the name to MLK County.

    *The Nelson Mandela Exhibit is on full display at Seattle's Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) May 24-September 7. The following individuals were deeply involved in Seattle's Anti-Apartheid movement and they will share a few moments of their activities and actions against Apartheid. My guest were Co Chairs of the Seattle Coalition Against Apartheid Maryamu Eltayeb Givens and Gerald Lenoir, Reverend Dr. Robert L. Jeffrey, Pastor, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church & Founder, Black Dollar Days Task Force; Anti- Apartheid Organizer Rick Harwood, and Anthony Long, MOHAI, Executive Associate & Board Relations Manager.

    *Lenny Wilkens, National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Fame Player & Coach has a street named for him just South of Climate Pledge Arena and now there will be a statute of Coach Wilkens in front of Climate Pledge soon. Like many of us he's waiting for NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to announce that we will finally have another NBA team. Remember the 1979 NBA Champions, yes the Seattle Super Sonics.

    *Robert E. Nesbitt was a DJ at radio station KYAC and he will reflect on his relationship and mentor ship that he received fro the late Lee Carter.

    *Corey Perkins, Founder, C ME a Men's Health & Wellness Group that meets at the Renton Library. there were sixty participants ant his last meeting.

As a part of Congressman Johnson's ongoing effort to protect and bolster the U.S. Supreme Court's independence, impartiality and accountability.

    *Washington State Representative Mia Su Ling Gregerson-Dahle (D)-33rd LD as put $300,000.00 in the state budget for a study on Reparations for the 400,000 Washington State African Descendant of US Chattel Slavery. Charles Mitchell was a young slave that was transported to the state by his slave master from Maryland. Puget Sound had an "Underground Railroad".

    *Former Washington State Representative Attorney Jesse Wineberry Sr.,Co Founder, Washington Equity Now Alliance (WENA) has been one on the forces for Reparations and has used his political savvy and commitment to get a resolution passed at the June 23, 2024 Washington State Democratic Convention that had a Reparations Resolution pass 1,092-1 to have the Governor Jay Inslee sign an Executive Order to establish the Charles Mitchell Commission to study reparations.

    *Reverend Malando Redeemer, President, Tacoma WA Branch NAACP and serves as Youth and Young Adult Pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church in Tacoma. He had an op ed posted in the Tacoma News Tribune today in support of Governor Bob Ferguson signing a Reparation study funding proposal that is supported by Senator Bob Hasegawa (D)-11th LD and by Representative Mia Su-Lin Gregerson-Dahle .

    *Olympia Washington Mayor Dontae Payne signed the first Resolution passed by the Olympia Wa city council that encouraged then Governor Jay Inslee to sign an Executive Order to establish the Charles Mitchell Commission on Reparations. He will comment on the current status of the Reparations Study.

    *Attorney Eric Fournier is representing Brian "Hakiym" Simpson a Cal Fire-trained wildland firefighter, father of four, poet and community advocate. In June, 2024 while off duty during wildfire season in Oregon Hakiym was violently attacked by a white firefighter. The aggressor shouted racial slurs, threw the first punch and chased him. In court the aggressor admitted to starting the altercation and was on drugs. The all white jury sentenced Hakiym to 70 months in Jail.

    *Retired Seattle Black Firefighters Clarence Williams who was also past president of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters and now serves as president of the Northwest Retired Black Firefighters Association comments on his expectations of MLK County Superior Court Judge Josephine Wiggs-Martin ruling will be on the questionable sale of the 23rd & East Pike Street property that was paid for by the retired Black Firefighters. He will be joined by Seattle's first Black Firefighter and first Black Chief of the Seattle Fire Department Claude Harris. Attorney Yohannes Sium has represented the retired and Seattle Firefighters who opposed the sale of the property and he will comment on this case.
