When we live through something hard, there can often be a sense of disbelief that it really was a hard or as bad as we are thinking it is. This leads us to try to see if validation of our experience is out there, as we aren't sure for ourselves due to the trauma of it all. So, we look to others, and comparison creeps in. Who are we to have it hard? Why not just plaster on a pretty smile and keep moving on? Well, it doesn't heal that way. We have to be real to heal.
