  • Beyond the Lens: Witnessing a World Worth Saving Through the Eyes of the Wild - Photojournalist PAUL HILTON on What's at Stake
    May 27 2025

Today, we welcome a man who doesn’t just tell stories - he exposes the truth.

Paul Hilton is an award-winning, world renowned photojournalist and conservationist who has built his career on the frontlines of some of the world’s most harrowing environmental crises. His work focuses on global environmental and conservation issues - from infiltrating the illegal wildlife trade to documenting the destruction of rainforests and oceans, his lens has captured the raw reality of human impact on nature.

Paul's work has fueled global conservation efforts, shining a light on the darkest corners of environmental exploitation

He is known for powerful storytelling through photography, exposing issues like illegal wildlife crime, deforestation, ocean conservation, and our relationship with the planet.

Paul doesn’t just take photos—he bears witness. And today, he’s here to share the stories that the world needs to hear. What is really happening behind the scenes of deforestation, wildlife trafficking, and ocean depletion? And most importantly -what can we do before it’s too late?

Internationally-acclaimed conservation photojournalist Paul Hilton is a wildlife crime consultant and has partnered with some of the largest conservation NFPs, such as the Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace, WildAid and the Oceanic Preservation Society. Paul has dedicated his life to his craft, becoming renowned for photojournalism that opens our eyes to faraway places and brings dangerous stories into our living rooms.

Paul’s footage of the illegal wildlife trade features heavily throughout the 2015 film Racing Extinction, produced by the Ocean Preservation Society & directed by Oscar-winner, Louie Psihoyos, which premiered at the Sundance film festival in Utah.

His work has been featured also in numerous television documentaries: Change Drivers for Discovery Channel, Ocean Warriors directed by Robert Redford for Animal Planet and Why On Earth, alongside Clint Eastwood.

Paul is a member of the prestigious International League of Conservation Photographers, & in 2010 launched his first book, Man & Shark, highlighting the global shark-finning industry. He has received numerous awards for his conservation photography: In 2012, a World Press Photo award for his body of work on the shark- fin issue; Wildlife Photographer of the Year in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2020; the Asian Geographic Best of the Decade series, and the Ark Trust Award for exposing bear bile farming in China, for Animals Asia Foundation. His images have been published in the books, Black Market, Hidden, Photographer Against Wildlife Crime and The Evidence Project.

Paul provides an experience of ‘travel with a purpose’ by offering people a chance to visit remote locations and view wildlife at its most authentic in natural habitats. In 2018, Paul created ‘Out There with Paul Hilton’, a global travel expedition company taking wildlife enthusiasts and people looking for adventure off the beaten track. Paul takes clients to far-flung destinations with which he has had a long and extensive affiliation. There, he expertly guides his clients in search of rhinos, leopards, elephants, tigers, orangutans, blue whales, humpbacks, mantas, sharks and dolphins. Paul takes great care in creating an itinerary that combines exceptional wildlife viewing and quality travel.
