Acerca de esta escucha
Cesarean deliveries are commonly performed under neuraxial anesthesia, allowing the patient to remain awake and experience the birth of their child. This practice, when done well, is one of the great successes of modern medicine. Less commonly discussed are the long term psychological consequences when a patient experiences pain during a c section, especially when she isn't believed.
Dr. M and former SOAP President Dr. Ruthi Landau discuss the role of the OB Anesthesiologist in cases of inadequate neuraxial blockade in patients undergoing cesarean delivery.
Topics covered:
- Birth trauma & psychological effects of pain during cesarean delivery
- Pain vs Pressure
- Ways to optimize your neuraxial block
- Knowing when to convert to general anesthesia
- Following up with patients after a difficult cesarean delivery
