Acerca de esta escucha
The beaches from Pender to Brunswick are serving up some surprisingly spicy surf conditions. Expect waves in the 1 to 3 foot range with a moderate north to south longshore current that'll keep things interesting. Water temperatures are hovering around a comfortable 70 to 75 degrees - not too shabby for early May.
Today's forecast is mostly cloudy with a slight chance of pop-up showers, especially around Myrtle Beach and Georgetown. Winds will be blowing from the northeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour, creating some chop but nothing too crazy.
Sunday looks similar but with a twist - increased chances of showers and even a moderate waterspout risk in some areas. Winds will calm down to around 10 miles per hour from the east, and surf heights will remain consistent.
The extended outlook gets more dramatic. Monday brings cloudy skies and showers, while Tuesday cranks up the excitement with a high rip current risk and surf heights climbing to 2 to 5 feet. Wednesday looks like a potential thunderstorm playground with waves still running strong.
Beachgoers, keep your eyes on those conditions. The UV index is moderate, so sunscreen is your friend. Remember, rip currents can be life-threatening near jetties, piers, and rocky areas. Stay alert, stay safe, and enjoy those waves!
