    In our 100th episode, we talk about a landmark weekend in Calgary soccer. Two different Calgary pro soccer teams played home matches on the same weekend. Cavalry FC and the Calgary Wild both delivered wins in their respective matches. We review both matches in our first two segments.

    In our Calgary Wild segment, we have included audio from the post-game press conference with Lydia Bedford, Jenaya Robertson and Stephanie Bukoevec.

    We also review the League One Alberta results from Friday and take a closer look at the table thus far.

    In our final segment, Scott and Jason reflect on how the Calgary soccer landscape has changed since we released our first episode in March 2023.

    We preview the Cavalry FC vs Pacific matchup at Spruce Meadows on Saturday as well as the Calgary Wild vs Montreal game at McMahon on Sunday.

    During our Cavalry segment, we talk about the development of the young prospects on the senior side. In our League One Alberta segment we continue that topic with Francesco Bartolillo, who is the new head coach of Cavalry FC U21 team. He talks about how he returned to his hometown after spending the last decade in BC, what it's like to coach the youngest team in League One Alberta and what are the goals of the U21 side - winning or development or some combination of both?

    We also talk about some League One results, Kaylee Hunter representing Canada again, the AMSL season begins and there's a big CMSA tournament on the weekend.

    The Calgary Wild will finally play their home opener at McMahon Stadium on Sunday. We preview the match and have an interview with forward Kahli Johnson. She talks about her move from Australia and how the season has been going so far.

    Cavalry FC will make the long road trip and face HFX Wanderers on Saturday. We do a preview, provide some injury updates and talk about Shamit Shome switching his national team status to Bangladesh.

  • Wild and Cavs on Toronto road trips and League One Alberta's first big match day

    We recap this past weekend's soccer action for Calgary based teams in this episode.

    The Calgary Wild finished up their long road trip at York Lions Stadium where they faced AFC Toronto.

    One day later, Cavalry FC stepped onto the same pitch to play York United with a better final result.

    League One Alberta saw four matches happen on Friday evening, including two matches in Calgary. We talk about Foothills, Callies, Villains and Blizzard. Some familiar faces appeared on the scoresheet for Cavalry U21's. And the Calgary Wild U21 team had a League One debut they'd probably prefer to forget.

  • Games galore and the end of an era as Foothills WFC leaves UWS

    We talk about the Calgary Wild’s first ever win last weekend in Halifax. Cavalry FC stumbles in CPL play but dominates in the Canadian Championship. Both pro clubs play a bit earlier than usual so we moved up our release date so we could preview both team's matches.

    We chat with Cedric Bovon, who has recently taken on two new head coaching positions. He's taken the reins of the Calgary Blizzard's women's League One Alberta team and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.

    It's the end of an era as Foothills WFC will not return to UWS in 2025. We reflect on the legacy of the club and how the high performance soccer landscape has changed in Calgary over the UWS era.

    In our last segment we've got a pretty big announcement to reveal that we're quite excited about.

  • Atletico and Al Classico at Spruce Meadows while the Wild visit Halifax
    Apr 25 2025

    Cavalry FC has two upcoming matches at Spruce Meadows. The first is on Saturday where they face Atletico Ottawa who have been in good form this season and are tied for first in the CPL standings. On Tuesday, they face Edmonton Scottish in the first round of the Canadian Championship. This match will be the biggest Calgary vs Edmonton matchup since FC Edmonton folded. We take a few minutes to speculate on the Scottish roster, which could have a lot of familiar faces.

    The Calgary Wild make the long road trip to Halifax to face the Tides in their home opener. We preview the game and talk about a couple of Halifax players listeners might be familiar with.

    The League One Alberta season began last weekend with a matchup between Calgary Rangers and BTB in Edmonton. We interview Alberta Soccer executive director Lisa Grant about the progress the league has made and what to expect in 2025.
