Found a bigtime reflective thought here from TeacherGoals (@teachergoals) which reminds us that maybe we are so tired not because we are doing too many things, but maybe we are not doing the thing(s) that light a spark inside of us?? In my regular podcast listening mode, I came across a recent show from Ben Newman (@ContinuedFight) and it was a hard hitting, eye-opening and a powerful motivator to get the word out about an important cause that connects with so many people. This is something that I found very interesting and very true! Again, something I need to work on in a bigtime way! It’s a great way to remember not to let someone’s brief negative thought or action towards us, and let it ruin an entire day (or even longer). Going back to the author of one of my favorite books of all time, “The Coffee Bean” - Damon West (@damonwest7) who reminds us to “Let your actions and attitude enhance the next room you walk into and watch the ripple effect of your choices.” A great reminder for me that my actions and attitude are two things that I have direct control over. I stumbled across a legend in the personal development / self improvement world. Jim Rohn mentioned this key to life - “Go for the pain of discipline because it weighs ounces. I found a very thought provoking post about really 3 things that we have total control over. It came from Sports Psychology (@SportPsychTips) and they shared this: “Motivation leads to discipline. I wanted to share one of my readings from the morning, in fact yesterday morning, from John Maxwell’s “Daily Reader”. I have it on my Kindle App on my phone which makes it easy to check out every single morning. This one dealt with what are the non-negotiables that we have in our life & are we willing to not cave in on them throughout each day. It’s a good review for us to think & reflect about and see how we are doing with these things that are supposed to be not just important to us, but part of who we are as a human being trying to live our best lives. Getting back to some teaching from the “Areté: Activate Your Heroic Potential” book by Brian Johnson and from page 249, there is a section called “Ownish vs. Vicimese”. He makes reference to distinctions between being an “owner” and being a “victim”. In this episode I share the passage he wrote with all the lessons that go with it.
