Looking back a couple of days ago to St. Patrick's Day (March 17), I have a smile on my face from some time spent with neighbors / friends. Our neighbor and good friends had a party for the day of celebrating, everyone has a little Irish in them. Some wonderful conversations reminded me about a few things. Humans are supposed to be together, face to face throughout life. There is tremendous value in this and yes technology has given us tools to meet up not face to face, but it's not the same at all. Important & easy topic of always being open to learning throughout life. But it's coming at you from a tough reminder. A former student of mine passed away from cancer. She was in her early - mid twenties. She left a huge impact on others from her radiant smile and laughter, to her genuine care for others. It's a part of life I know, but still difficult to grasp onto. She taught me about bravery, courage, laughter, not giving up, caring for and loving others, etc. So many people have taught me these and other important lessons - all to many former students that have passed away ...

Saw an awesome post from @meLanie_korach that got me thinking about how we all matter - to ourselves and to others. It's Just A Matter Of When... we make that little difference with others and ourselves, that can really change things in our lives along with the lives of others. I ran across a great quote - an even better mindset really, from Coach Robyn Fralick at Michigan State University. "Joy is a competitive advantage!" I love this reminder - especially for myself. Life is short. Joy is something that is too valuable, not to have in life. My wife and I had a great date night last night as we got to see the one and only Donny Osmond perform at the historic & beautiful Fox Theater in Detroit. He put on an amazing show!! Here is a guy in his mid 60's, with 65 albums, has worked with so many other stars & he's still doing it today - I would say, better than ever.
