This, of course, would be a shallow assumption and one that not only misses the mark but completely shifts the mark. These are poems that I wrote when I lost two women that have played a role in my child-hood, my grand-mother and aunt. They both passed away this year, I mourned for them and wrote these poems. They tormented my life when I was young. I held the hands that once beaten me with love instead of with revenge. I forgave them, prayed for them and loved them before they died. In all these I thank God of heaven.

I wrote these poems when someone said to me “Doreen, just be content it is not yet time for you to prosper”. Another person said to me “my Pastor said an elephant is pregnant for 18 months. So don’t’ rush to want to prosper”. I told the person, I’m not an elephant but a human being. I did not have any source of income, begging for accommodation, food and clothing.
