Round the Moon is Jules Verne's sequel to From the Earth to the Moon. Having been fired out of the giant Columbiad space gun, the Baltimore Gun Club's bullet-shaped projectile and its three passengers, Barbicane, Nicholl and Michel Ardan, begins the five-day trip to the moon. A few minutes into the journey, a small, bright asteroid passes within a few hundred yards of them, but luckily does not collide with the projectile. The asteroid had been captured by the Earth's gravity and had become a second moon. The three travelers undergo a series of adventures and misadventures during the rest of the journey.

Despite his wealth, the rich British gentleman Phileas Fogg lives a simple and humble life. He is a member of the Reform Club, which is one of London’s best gentleman's club. One day at the club, Fogg gets involved in an argument. The gentlemen disagree whether it is possible to travel all the way around the globe in only 80 days. Fogg bets that 80 days is enough and accepts a wager of pound20,000 to complete the journey himself within 80 days.

Today we take for granted the exploration of the fascinating submarine depths of the oceans, so ubiquitous are its many representations on our screens. It is therefore surprising to realise that in his thrilling 1869 novel Jules Verne was anticipating much which was then not even imagined by science. The enigmatic Captain Nemo takes his awe-inspiring Nautilus around the Oceans of the world exploring the deep with its wonders and horrors.

The Mysterious Island was published in 1874, and it is one of Verne's longest novels. The plot depicts a group of men who have become castaways stranded on an island in the Pacific during the American Civil War. The novel describes their attempts not only to survive but also, with the aid of the scientific and technological know-how, to rebuild their world from the meager resources of the island. At the end, however, it is realized that Captain Nemo, from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, has secretly been helping the settlers.

Son capitaine a accueilli à bord une passagère, Mrs Weldon, son fils Jack âgé de cinq ans, qu'il doit ramener chez eux à San Francisco, et une poignée de naufragés abandonnés sur une épave. Malheureusement, en poursuivant un redoutable cétacé, le capitaine et son équipage périssent en mer. Il ne reste plus sur la baleinière, hormis la femme et l'enfant, que quelques hommes affaiblis sans connaissances maritimes... et Dick Sand, jeune novice intrépide âgé de quinze ans.

In the story, Phileas Fogg of London and his newly employed French valet Passepartout attempt to circumnavigate the world in 80 days on a 320,000 pounds wager (equal to 31,324,289 pounds today) set by his friends at the Reform Club. It is one of Verne's most acclaimed works.
