"Abandon hope all ye who enter here." Dante, our young, naive hero, has woken from a deep sleep to find himself in a cold, dark wood. Before he can begin to work out where he is, his path is blocked by a leopard, a lion, and a she-wolf. Things get worse from there, and our pilgrim finds himself on a journey through the very depths of hell. Why is he there, and will he ever make it out alive?

Led by his guide Beatrice, Dante leaves the Earth behind and soars through the heavenly spheres of Paradise. Paradiso (Italian: [paraˈdiːzo]; Italian for "Paradise" or "Heaven") is the third and final part of Dante's Divine Comedy, following the Inferno and the Purgatorio. It is an allegory telling of Dante's journey through Heaven, guided by Beatrice, who symbolises theology. In the poem, Paradise is depicted as a series of concentric spheres surrounding the Earth, consisting of the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Fixed Stars, the Primum Mobile and finally, the Empyrean. It was written in the early 14th century. Allegorically, the poem represents the soul's ascent to God.

Non si conoscono con precisione gli anni di composizione della "Vita nuova", nonostante sia stata presumibilmente allestita tra il 1292 e il 1293. The Divine Comedy (Italian: Divina Commedia) is an Italian narrative poem by Dante Alighieri, begun c. 1308 and completed in 1320, a year before his death in 1321. It is widely considered the pre-eminent work in Italian literature and one of the greatest works of world literature. The poem's imaginative vision of the afterlife is representative of the medieval worldview as it had developed in the Western Church by the 14th century. Dante meets many familiar faces among the sinners and the saved and learns many things of value throughout his long, dangerous journey.

Dante's Inferno by Dante Alighieri. The first part of Dante's Divine Comedy , the "Inferno" (or "Hell"), begins on the night before Good Friday in the year 1300, "halfway along our life's path". Dante is thirty-five years old, half of the biblical life expectancy of 70, lost in a dark wood, assailed by beasts he cannot evade, and unable to find the straight way to salvation. Conscious that he is ruining himself and that he is falling into a deep place where the sun is silent, Dante is at last rescued by Virgil, and the two of them begin their journey to the underworld.

La Vita Nuova (pronounced [la ˈviːta ˈnwɔːva]; Italian for The New Life) is a text by Dante Alighieri published in 1294. It is an expression of the medieval genre of courtly love in a prosimetrum style, a combination of both prose and verse.

Burkhard Wolk legt mit dieser Darbietung auch die erste Gesamteinsprechung der "Göttlichen Komödie" als Hörbuch vor. Wie in der Live-Rezitation wird auch beim Hörbuch der deutsche Wortlaut Karl Wittes verwendet, der der Erhabenheit der Danteschen Dichtung wohl am nahesten ist.

Dante's Paradise is the third of the three cantos of the Divine Comedy, after Hell and Purgatory. Hell and purgatory are places on Earth, but paradise is a non-material and ethereal place, divided into nine heavens.
