Von April bis Dezember erscheint jeden Monat ein Segment. Die Geschichten wurden dann zu einem Roman erweitert, der im selben Jahr veröffentlicht wurde. Es ist der erste Band einer Trilogie, die "The Phoenix and the Carpet" (1904) und "The Story of the Amulet" (1906) enthält. Das Buch war seit seiner Erstveröffentlichung nie vergriffen.
