Apocalyptic Earth

This is the first of five Novellas in a near term Science Fiction Post-Apocalyptic series. Each book in the series tells the stories of a group of survivors that live through a Global Extermination Event. The characters in this book are clustered around the shores of a great Inland Sea above what used to be called the San Joaquin Valley in California. These stories were triggered by current events shortly after I published my first book, BB-39. I had planned to complete another long-delayed novel, but these stories could not be set aside. Finally, I gave up and started writing these stories...

An extinction-level event. A planet killer with no warning and no time to prepare. Earth would become cold and lifeless, a rogue planet in the vacuum of interstellar space. Would hastily constructed igloos and tunnels keep the flame of life alight? One person believed so, and the fragment of humanity that had survived put their trust in him. Thus, upon assuming absolute power, he became responsible for all life, all society, and all hope.

The ambrosia of women’s revenge couldn’t be sweeter. Great Mother, the all-omnipotent Earth goddess, destroys her Earth to start the world anew. During the post-apocalyptic doom, men repeat what they’ve done for millenniums; they go to war and do savage and horrible things to women and girls. Great Mother gives women all the power and control to punish men for eternity. Cara, Great Mother’s vessel on Earth, leads the surviving women to restart society to right past wrongs. But ultimately, the women want revenge. And the men are clueless.

No longer a small child, Wisp accompanies Dad on one of his treks, her first time more than a few steps away from the cabin. A day exploring with him is the happiest time of her life, but joy is short-lived. A monster follows them home. Safe in her haven, she hides while Dad goes outside to confront the beast. She wakes alone the next morning and waits. Alas, her hope of his return fades with the daylight. Afraid but determined, Wisp sets off on her own into the Endless Forest to find Dad - before the Tree Walkers catch her.

After the destruction of the planet by Nomad, the final fight for the future comes to a staggering conclusion as Earth drops toward Saturn and Jessica Rollins must decide whether to save the ones she loves, or save the human race. Destiny is the fourth and final novel in a four-book saga that follows one family's fight to survive on a new Earth after a whole new category of disaster - all the more frightening as the science behind it was developed by a team of astrophysicists from CERN, SETI, and the Keck Observatory.

The drive to find and eliminate Tala becomes an existential pursuit, leading back in time and out into a desolate, dust-covered city.
