In questo brevissimo racconto, col ritmo estremamente incalzante di un dialogo diretto, Daniel Defoe mette in luce - non senza ironia - le contraddizioni alla base di simili resoconti, anticipando di ben due secoli e mezzo la moderna "psicologia dell’insolito".
