Originally published in 2015 as JUST GET THROUGH THE DAY, this edition brings the reader more historical photos, information and added text not found in the original story of Gordon Cox, submariner. Eternal Patrol is dedicated to all men lost while serving in the U.S. Submarine Force. The primary purpose of this new edition is to honor the men of the United States Submarine Force by attempting to put fact of service to as many of the names on the lists of lost submariners as possible and to the men who were interned by the Japanese.

Ingrid Coles was born in Java, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia), on November 28, 1942, during the Japanese occupation of WWII. Three months after her birth, she and her family were incarcerated in prisoner-of-war camps. Her father died, aged 43, in a prison camp. Her six-year-old brother died of starvation and pneumonia en route to Holland, when the family was evacuated during the Indonesian War of Independence. Life changed drastically in the Netherlands for Ingrid and her three siblings.

During World War II, the United States was battling Japan. In 1942, the president of the United States signed an executive order, forcing more than 100,000 Japanese Americans to leave their homes. These innocent people - many of them US citizens - would spend the next few years imprisoned behind barbed wire fences in what the government called internment camps.
