Soma's mother, T.M. Song, was a storyteller and this is a tale she used to tell her daughters when they were little girls. Her mother had told it to her when she was growing up in a rural village in Korea during the reign of King Kojong.... The underlying lesson is filial piety, respect for one's parents, presented in an engrossing Oriental Cinderella story.

A young girl reconnects with her Korean grandmother; an artist considers her connection to the Korean folktale of the green frog; a praying mantis living in a beautiful home overlooking the park finds the New York dating scene leaves her hungering for more; a fox demon seeks revenge for her murdered sister, only for her loyalties to be torn; AI brings a grieving mother’s daughter back to life; at a spa in the mountains, a recently divorced woman has a ghostly encounter; and a recipe book instructs the reader on ‘how to eat your own heart’.

샤를 페로의 동화 속 푸른 수염은 노통브의 『푸른 수염』에서 황금과 중세 사상에 사로잡힌 에스파냐 귀족 〈돈 엘레미리오 니발 이 밀카르〉로 변모했다. 그리고 푸른 수염의 젊은 아내는 영리하고 아름다운 벨기에 여자, 사튀르닌으로 부활했다.

『추남, 미녀』는 샤를 페로의 동화 「고수머리 리케」를 현대적으로 재해석한 작품으로, 추하지만 천재인 남자와, 아름답지만 멍청해 보이는(사실은 멍청하지 않다) 여자라는 두 주인공을 등장시키고 있다.
