Modern Philosophy

The goal of my writing is to warn people about the dangers of bad ideology. I have, for many years, known that the consequences of creeping altruism were poverty and moral decline. I learned this by observing the cynical goal of power of modern philosophers, religious leaders, and their philosophical offshoots. The enemies of man include both the left and the right.

"Philosophy is not a theory," asserted Austro-British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951), "but an activity." In this 1921 opus, his only philosophical work published during his lifetime, Wittgenstein defined the object of philosophy as the logical clarification of thoughts and proposed the solution to most philosophic problems by means of a critical method of linguistic analysis.

The Pleistocene spans a period from around 2.5 million years ago (mya) to just over 12,000 years ago, and it was an epoch of enormous change on Earth, mainly characterized by climate changes involving fluctuations between periods of extreme heat and long periods of glaciation. I didn't set out to create a new translation of the Tao Te Ching when writing The Way. Since Lao Tzu wrote it in the fourth century BC, it has become one of the most widely translated works in the world and hardly needs a new scholarly treatment. Instead, I sought to capture the way the verses have come alive in me with language and metaphors that are more easily understood by a modern Western listener.
