في الكتاب محاولةٌ لتغيير النظرة إلى الحمار ونشاطه الذهني، فقد قُلبت الموازين، وصار الحمار كائنًا ناطقًا، يشغله همٌّ واحد ألا وهو الوصول إلى درجة الإحترام في نظر الإنسان، ونفي صفة الغباء والكسل عنه.
