El filósofo Epicteto, en una división de cuatro libros, nos presenta sus disertaciones o discursos, los cuales se basan en reflexiones y meditaciones para el buen vivir. Se consignan temas éticos, morales, religiosos y familiares; como también actitudes y comportamientos humanos que se deben evitar, para no caer en una vida vacía y decadente.
