Growing up in an all-white small town, I was unaware of the societal problems that were caused by systemic racism. As I grew older, a slowly developing awareness was taking place. As an adult, I often saw instances of racism and bigotry. With the recent political turmoil leading up to the 2020 elections, and the awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement, I reflected on many of the experiences I had in which minorities were left behind.
