Роман «Семейное счастье» Льва Толстого рассказывает историю сначала любви молодой девушки к другу своего покойного отца, её опекуну, а затем их женитьбы и первых нескольких лет их супружеской жизни, включающих некоторое охлаждение и ссоры. «Семейное счастье» отличается от других романов писателя тем, что здесь рассматривается только частная жизнь героев без связи с более широкой картиной действительности. Повествование ведется от первого лица (что уже очень редкий случай в произведениях Толстого), притом от лица молодой женщины.

Kholstomer is a work by Leo Tolstoy that has been referred to as "one of the most striking stories in Russian literature". It was started in 1863 and left unfinished until 1886, when it was reworked and published as Kholstomer: The Story of a Horse. This story prominently features the technique of defamiliarization by adopting the perspective of a horse to expose some of the irrationalities of human conventions. Kholstomer's altruistic life is recounted parallel to that of his selfish and useless owner. At the end of the story horse dies but his corpse gives birth to a new life - that of wolf cubs.

Под общим названием "Повести Белкина" объединены пять произведений: "Выстрел", "Метель", "Гробовщик", "Станционный смотритель" и "Барышня- крестьянка". Они были написаны Пушкиным в 1830 году в Болдине. Пушкин решил напечатать повести анонимно, с предисловием "от издателя", содержащим биографию И.П. Белкина.
