In 1995, three intrepid adventure seekers travel by small sailboat and kayaks risking death in rough seas to find the Painted Cave of Santa Cruz Island.

Nikolay believed in his and his boat's abilities to compete in the renowned OSTAR 80 and to sail around Cape Horn in a one stop circumnavigation with a boat made by him despite the constant attempts of the government to prevent him from fulfilling his childhood dream. Capsized twice, chased by pirates along the Moroccan coast, betrayed by trusted friends, imprisoned in Turkey and still, this salty sailor never gave up.

Kayaking at night has its rewards and hazards. I have noticed that when you master a sport, you eventually want to challenge yourself. Sooner or later you end up doing it at night. My travels took me on a flying safari across Australia and cruising around the coasts of Tasmania and New Zealand's South Island. Both spectacular, breathtaking places in their own rights. Let me tell you, the rewards outstripped the risks by a long way.

I climbed into my orange plastic Kayak and zoomed off to the green shallows of Young Cove. Just what is it that makes paddling this waterway such pleasure? Sometimes I think it is the kayak music.
