During the summer of 2024, I completed the Western Express cycling route from San Francisco to Grand Junction, Colorado. This ride was self-supported and contains helpful hints that I learned on the approximately thousand-mile ride. Route descriptions and experiences should help anyone else contemplating tackling this very challenging route. The Loneliest Road in America was part of this route and requires special attention to complete successfully.

Having completed as much of the Western Express cycling route last summer in 2024 as I could before encountering the closed roadway across Colorado, I finished the rest of this summer and continued to the Atlantic Ocean on my own, better version of the Transamerica Bicycling Route.
