Dive Deeper Into This Mystery

I was skeptical about listening to this audiobook at first, but when the author gave the story of Jimmy and Frank and showed me exactly where in my own bible there are missing verses, I became intrigued. I wanted to know why and how that is possible. I was raised reading the KJV bible, but later in life, I used modern versions such as the ESV and NIV. When I looked into it, I noticed that those verses were indeed missing from those modern versions with a note saying that earlier manuscripts included these verses. The ensuing chapters dive into the possibilities of why that is, explaining the importance of textual criticism, and why the bible is reliable even if these verses are missing. It explains how the bible was preserved throughout the years and how correctly copying the manuscripts can lead to some errors by those scribes who were not cross-checked. The Bible is infallible, but human error is not. This not only tested my faith but also encouraged me to dive deeper into these verses myself and research why these were included in the KJV or NKJV and not modern versions. There's even a chapter about why these were not renumbered in these newer versions. I did notice in the LGB version that these verses are in brackets with a footnote that mentions the early manuscripts, which I'm glad they did. The last chapter explains why this is important. If you are a believer or a non-believer, relate to Jimmy or Frank, I'm sure you will find this audiobook invaluable. It aims to explain why all this took place and do so in an honest way. I like that the author even includes his references on a separate PDF included with the audiobook. Be sure to download this to read along with the audiobook. Ultimately the bible is true, influential, and the inspired word of God.

FASCINATING

I always knew about the missing gospels - though I've never read them - but this concept is new to me. I really loved listening to the verses and the context. Very stimulating stuff. Great narrator, too.

Examination of Faith influences

I love learning about my Christian faith. The more I learn about his word the more I have faith in him. I thought I knew a lot about Gods word but this book has opened up my eyes to the history of the Bible. I knew that these words were written long ago and translations have chaged it a bit. How ever I didnt realize there were missing verses! This was a educational and thought provoking read. I loved that it was a balanced approach and not wanting you to pick one belief or another. It is well researched and the writing fantastic. Great for anyone looking to dig deeper into their faith.

Interesting read

"16 Missing Bible Verses" is an eye catching title, and is technically correct, if you consider that the “missing verses” are not in the exact paragraph in question on the page in the printed version for each. They are however, still in the Bible, though in the form of references. And, they are all present as notations in electronic versions. That said, the book does a really good job of explaining why they are “missing” in the first place. It is well-written and easy to understand.
