Publisher's summary

Justin wasn't shopping for one. But, while on vacation on the East Coast, he purchased a cathedral style radio from an antique store. When he got it back to the hotel and turned it on, he was surprised at what he heard. Terrified voices from three centuries ago spilled into his hotel room as he listened to a terrible storm battering a passenger ship at sea. Then, in the midst of the fearful cries and shouts for mercy from passengers on the ship, in the distance, a man heard some people singing a hymn. How could they be so calm at a time like this? How can we Christians be so calm at a time like this? How can we reach the throne of God and be blessed with permanent peace and saved from the storm of this modern culture battering our hearts and minds today?

In the recent past many Christians obtained what has come to be called, a "second blessing" from God in which their hearts, souls, and minds were filled with pentecostal power. Justin and his new found friends listened intently as his supernatural radio scanned the past, finding these long forgotten saints whose wisdom and experience seem no longer relevant today. But is that true?

John Wesley, a co-founder of the Methodist church, said, "Light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles around to watch you burn." Did the Christian church miss a chance to catch the world on fire with the Gospel? Will that old radio reveal a secret that could set a holy fire ablaze within each of us? Stay tuned.

History Comes to Life in a Back-to-Future Paradigm

This book provides some great history of the "holiness movement" in a unique format combining truth with mystery and a "back to the future" paradigm. If you are unaware of the "second work of grace movement", "sanctification" or the "second blessing" then this book will provide you with historic testimonies and the scriptural basis for these powerful life changing events. I would recommend you have your favorite translation of the bible with you when you listen to this book and be prepared to find new meaning in the scriptures for your life.

Be ready to pray along with the book

Very moving! I found my self nodding yes and saying amen along with the characters in this book while they were seeking God and the second blessing. The author (my father-in-law, which changes nothing with the message in this book) is obviously a very spiritual man and this book will only strengthen your faith and inspire you to seek Jesus more and to forget about worldly things. Bless him and all who decide to check out this book!

A modern pilgrim learns about holiness

Zarley tells a new story about some old saints. He breaks new creative ground, while also continuing the long tradition of trying to tell old stories to new generations (like Pilgrim's Progress). Could this book be one of the divine sparks that helps this generation look past our "wall of flesh" to see Jesus? And the simple way of holiness? And the deeper spiritual experiences that previous generations have recorded? Many prayer provoking thoughts. I really enjoyed the historical quotes from early holiness preachers. This could be a good way for parents to introduce this history to their children. It is an extraordinary demonstration of what one individual can accomplish nowadays and, specifically, the unique creativity and fertile imagination of the multi-talented Christian author, narrator, and publisher Vic Zarley. Disclosure: I received a copy of this audiobook to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while listening to this book. Shawn Loy, Austin, IN
