새 학기를 맞아 캐클 마법학교에는 새로운 선생님이 왔어요. 그래닛 선생님은 어딘가 괴짜 같고, 수업에 흥미가 없어 보이네요. 이번 학기만큼은 '꼴찌 마녀'라는 타이틀을 벗기 위해 단장을 하던 밀드레드는 그만 머리카락이 고데기에 엉켜버리고 말아요. 머리를 복구하기 위해 에셀이 알려준 마법을 사용했지만, 머리카락이 멈추지 않고 자라는 바람에 학교 전체가 머리카락으로 뒤덮이게 되었어요. 게다가 에셀은 거기서 그치지 않고 빗자루 수업 시간에 태비를 낚아채 빗자루를 타고 도망가 버리기까지 했답니다. 높은 곳을 무서워하는 태비가 지붕 위에서 덜덜 떨고 있는 모습을 발견한 밀드레드는 서둘러 태비를 구하기 위해 빗자루를 타고 날아가지만, 하필 태비가 있던 곳이 새 학년 주임 그래닛 선생님의 방이었고, 태비는 그래닛 선생님께 잡혀가게 되었어요. 밀드레드는 선생님에게 태비를 돌려 달라고 말하지만, 선생님은 밀드레드가 자신의 방을 훔쳐본 것은 아닌지 밀드레드를 의심하기에 바빠요. 태비를 돌려받지 못한 밀드레드는 저녁에 몰래 기숙사를 빠져나와 선생님의 방으로 향하고, 무슨 영문인지 그곳에는 교장 선생님이 계셨어요. 교장 선생님께 그래닛 선생님이 어딘가 수상하다 말하려는 순간, 밀드레드가 그래닛 선생님 방 옷장에 갇히고 말았어요!
과연 밀드레드는 옷장을 탈출해 수상한 선생님의 비밀 작전을 막고 캐클 마법학교와 친구들을 지켜낼 수 있을까요?
