Misconceptions, misunderstandings, and flawed facts finally get the heave-ho in this humorous, downright humiliating book of reeducation based on the phenomenal British best seller. Challenging what most of us assume to be verifiable truths in areas like history, literature, science, nature, and more, The Book of General Ignorance is a witty “gotcha” compendium of how little we actually know about anything. It’ll have you scratching your head wondering why we even bother to go to school.

Conspiracies didn’t always seem so clear and present. It used to be that people with tin-foil hats who were convinced of secret messages coming through the radio were easily disregarded as kooks and looney tunes. But these days, conspiracies feel alive and well. From internet rumors to lying politicians to the tinderbox that is social media, it’s become clear that a vast swath of people believe really bonkers things. Podcast hosts Ben Bowlin, Matthew Frederick, & Noel Brown discern conspiracy fact from fiction regarding "stuff" the government doesn’t want you to know.

Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

The True Story of The Coward Brothers follows two musical brothers – one English, one American, both the illegitimate sons of dubious parentage who may, as they claim to be, "one and half-brothers" – perhaps a reference to the disparity in their height and relative talents.

Story
Campbell Flynn, art historian, professor, and fêted fixture of the literati, always knew that when his life came crashing down, it would happen in public—yet he never imagined that a single year in London would expose so much. He’s never taken other people half as seriously as they take themselves, which is the first of his mistakes. The second is a new project: opportunistic and precisely calibrated to rake in a fortune.

Story
In Made in America, Bryson de-mythologizes his native land, explaining how a dusty hamlet with neither woods nor holly became Hollywood, how the Wild West wasn't won, why Americans say 'lootenant' and 'Toosday', how Americans were eating junk food long before the word itself was cooked up, as well as exposing the true origins of the G-string, the original $64,000 question, and Dr Kellogg of cornflakes fame.

Mehhhh.....
Dunno, cant get into this book. Narrator yaps the stories way too fast so that when you finally absob what she said, she is one or two stories ahead of what you just grasped. Also seems the stories could be better organized somehow, They bounce around subjects that have nothing to do with each other and coupled with the fast narration, you loose out on stories unless you are really concentrating on the narration. Of course, reason you got an audible book is because you are doing something else and cant just concentrate on listening because you may be busy doing something like driving or riding a bike ...

Entertaining!
This is a great title to play in your car when being all by yourself stuck in traffic or on a long and boring drive. The topics are very varied, and some facts are unbelievable amazing, others seriously shocking, and others will make you laugh out loud.

Background music is so distracting
I listen to hundreds of books and I do for the words not for lounge music distracting me. The background music is so annoying father some and takes advantage of having the readers ear is this isn’t a chance to listen to elevator music is a chance to listen to the book and if someone doesn’t like what’s going on in the book, they can take a break or not buy the book, but that doesn’t mean I need music to keep me enthralled.

USED GOD NAME IN VAIN
#25 Used God name in vain supposably quoting Richard Nixon I don't care at all if they're copying or what that is worse than any racial slur or comment against me or anyone in this world to me. I'm going to give this book a low rating only because it used God's name in vain I can't believe the narrator even went ahead and read this and broke the ten commandments. let alone any kind of morals she might have had or not had... I now look very down on this Arthur and this narrator I may or may not return the books I have purchased from them.

How to Make a Librarian Cringe
It only took me about six minutes to realize that I didn't care for this book. I generally like random facts books but not this. There is no order or organization to the facts. The information is all over the place. One fact is about a historical figure and the next is about jellybeans. There is no rhyme or reason to the information. The topics do not flow smoothly. It is disorienting. If I hear a fact I like, and forget to hit the bookmark button, there is no way to find that fact again. It is chaotic.
The narration style is unappealing. While the narrators sound pleasant and cheerful enough, there is no storytelling in the delivery. They are simply reading from a list, as a Stepford wife might read from a grocery list. The delivery is shallow. They could be a spokesperson in a commercial selling Vitameatavegamin or behind a fast food counter politely listing the options for dipping sauce. Granted, there isn't much of any storytelling to do. The production team has attempted to make the avalanche of information more appealing by playing an undercurrent of upbeat music in the background but it doesn't help make the torrent of facts more palatable. I recommend passing on this series and instead seeking out an organized fun facts book that wouldn't make a librarian cry tears of appalled anguish.
