Publisher's summary

Welcome to '50sVille: The town you will absolutely love, or else… Imagine a town where the people perpetually live in the 1950s, a place where time has all but stopped and where everyone loves his family, job, and life. In this strange place, only a select few people ever leave the city limits and even then, they leave reluctantly. This is what fifteen and a half year old Benjamin Granault faces as, through a string of amazing events, he finds himself living in a town where he can never talk about modern technology or current events, a place where being an outsider can cost a person his life and being part of the community may very well cost more. Follow the adventures of Benjamin Granault in '50sVille, the strangest town Indiana has ever been unaware of.

Creepy good!!

I’m in love with this creepy story!!! I own the ebooks too. Yep, that’s how much I love them.
Great second part in the creepy series. I love this creeptastic series. Reminds me of a good Twilight Zone story.
Imagine there was a town, hidden from the world that is stuck in the 50’s? But it isn’t a kind, loving town.
That’s all I’m giving you. Buy the series!!!
The narrator draws you into the series. Onward to next!!

Volume three

Volume three. It has kept my interest and I'm still excited for the next installment. That is a rare feat. Congrats Dr. Paul A Ibbetson for keeping my interest and providing a new awesome series that I actually look forward to listening to.

I received this audiobook from the author/publisher/narrator in exchange for an honest review via Audiobook Boom.

The plot thickens

I've listen to all 5 books in the serie in sequence. They are not that long and the story is pretty much continuous so I recommend to read it/listen all 5 books too. You will not want to stop in the middle.
I will review all 5 books and give stars individual for each.
The story is about a boy that every year goes to an event in a town that is stuck in the 50's. In the first book we get to meet this town and some of it's inhabitants. But then his father dies and the plot begins. For his own protection he has to hide in the town and live there under their rules (book 2). Those first 2 books were my favorite. As well as the narrators. The story reminded me of "The Stepford Wives" but in different way. The group of kids also reminded me a lot of Steven Spielberg films.
After that the story turns into a darker tale, when we discover the mystery behind the town. I think of it like a Edgar Allan Poe tale. I love them, the dark, the mystery, the danger, the thrill, the supernatural flare. The thing is they always seem to never go too deep, being just a tale. In here we still get a lot of complexity, and cool characters, but for me it never really suppresses the expectations created on the first 2 books. Still worth reading to discover the full mystery and the final chapter.
It was a petty that there is a new narrator for every book. I would have preferred consistency, being a small length novela. All narrators are pretty good, but totally different from each other.

Wow... what a strange story!

I really enjoyed his book. The narrator was kind of stilted but the story.... Oh My Gosh!!! It keeps you wondering what was going on. You'll truly enjoy his book!

Good read

My third read from Dr. Paul Ibbetson. Another enjoyable short read in the serial that captivated my attention. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. The excitement and suspense cranks up, I need to get the rest of the books in this serial. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Many clothes but no bodies.

Firstly, just to say that this book is the third part of a five book serial.
Not a theme park, not even marked on the map, Ferndale is an ordinary town in many ways except it is a town fixed in the 1950s: when the decade closes, the whole town resets to the beginning again. No cell phones or internet, very little T.V. - the radio is supreme with the music of the Everley Brothers, Pat Boom and Bill Hayley. But beneath the ordinary surface is something very sinister. Because the town doesn't like strangers, as an interested journalist discovers ...

Intriguing, well written and a good mystery, narrator Lucas Schuneman reads with clarity, good pacing and inflection, carrying the story forward, building the tension. Then, just when the reader has fully settled in ... It ends. Time for book four.

I was very fortunate in being freely gifted a complimentary copy of 50sVille, volume three, by the author, at my request. Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed the story so far even though I had not read books one and two, but I do rather wish the entire serial had been grouped together in one volume. I will be getting the following books, however, as my curiosity has been seriously engaged.
Recommended, but remember this is part of a serial.

50s Ville series

The 50s Ville books are a lot of fun. Ibbetson has a very tongue in cheek style, that makes them dark and humorous, while not taking themselves too seriously.
