About this listen
Though she has known hardships in her life, Ingeborg Bjorklund chooses to focus on all she has been given. Blessed with children and grandchildren, she enjoys the friendship and support of the entire Blessing, North Dakota, community. And after several years of widowhood, she has reached a place of contentment with her life.
Meanwhile, her stepson, Thorliff, is raising two children alone since his beloved Elizabeth died. But there is a new schoolteacher in town, Louisa Gutenburg, and Thorliff doesn't seem to be himself whenever she's around. It isn't just his obvious fascination with Louisa, but the fact that he seems completely oblivious to it that makes Ingeborg smile. How long before Thorliff realizes what everyone else can see a mile away?
But not everything is comfortable for Ingeborg. One of her dearest friendships is changing - and she will have to decide if her settled, predictable life is worth more to her than a future she hardly dares to imagine.

Story
For years, Edna Miller has found herself drawn to Emery Hoschtettler with an attraction she can explain no better than she can put a stop to it. Other suitors come and go, but none make her feel the way she feels around Emery - that incredible floating feeling, as if she was walking on air, mixed with a painful desperation to be ever nearer to him. Despite the fact that Emery seldom seems to pay her much attention, she decides it would be unfair to marry anyone else when her heart longs only for him. Love the narrator! Love the author!
These are some of the best books I’ve ever listened to. The historical events that occurred during this period of time along with the way of life and hardships people in this area of the country lived through, especially being told from the standpoint of Norwegian immigrants make these book so interesting! There are so many historical details and the characters lives are so woven together that I still hear something new even when I listen to them again. In addition they are so wholesome and are filled with so many Biblical truths that they are comforting to listen to over and over.
