Publisher's summary

Loreli Winters never imagined she'd end up a "mail-order bride" in middle-of-nowhere Kansas - until the two adorable orphan nieces of a dusky dream named Jake Reed beg her to be their new "mama". And one look at the dark, devastatingly handsome man is enough to entice her to abandon her California plans and stay put for a while in this one-horse frontier town.

Strong, sensible Jake was hoping for a wife to help him raise his girls, but Loreli may be more than he can handle. He can't stop wondering what it would be like to hold the fiery enchantress close and kiss her deeply. Surely he could never compete with the sophisticated gents she has known, yet he intends to try. But will his honest passion be enough to take a chance on a long shot called love?

Loreli

Love the story! I read this book long ago and bought the audio book recently. Listening to the mispronounciation of Loreli over and over again made it difficult to listen. Very distracting 😳. I love all of Mrs. Jenkins books! Wish there was a way to go back and correct that ONE WORD!

This was so good!

Loreli was quite the character. The twins saw her and immediately chose her to be their new mother. She and their uncle Jake tried to ignore it but soon neither could. Their romance was such a good story. I really enjoyed this book!

Beverly never disappoints

I love how independent the women in her stories always are! But still feminine and playful with the right men!

Didn’t Want It To End

I love a good love story that finds a way to happen when so much works against it. Excellent character and story development. Narration is the best!

As expected!

What more can any one person say about the same author over and over? I love Ms. Bev and her unique way of incorporating history into her fictional novels. For that reason alone I will always listen to her books. I must say that I also love Kim Staunton I truly do, BUT seriously her pronunciation of Lorelei is grating. I mean every single time the name was said it jarred me away from the flow of the storyline. Mind you Lorelei was the most stated word or name in the entire book. Just mind numbing painful. But I’ve listened to the book a few times to actually get the entire story. Great book

The Awesomeness of a Woman

After listening to Always and Forever I was interested in learning more about the fearless Miss Winters. After being pronounced lor-ah-lee in that book by a different narrator, I didn't apadt quickly to this narrator calling her lor-elly. In fact, I was about to stop listening just because of that difference. I am glad I kept listening though because this was another good historical fiction romance that made me feel a little bit of everything. I loved Lorelie's fireceness and her intelligence but I also really loved her tenderness with the twins. That alone really made me root for her. What did confuse me though was why she was ever a part of the wagon train when she clearly had everything and then some at her disposal- that made no sense. Also I didn't understand why she encountered so many of her bridal sisters but never sought out the one she claimed to have loved so much- with all the money and resources she had. Nonetheless, this book as a standalone was good and it reminded me of the awesome possibility of what a woman can be- even way back when.

Loved it!

The narrator should have consulted about the correct pronunciation of Loreli's name. It was sooo disappointing. I loved the story though.

Absolutely loved it

I loved the untraditional Lorelei and the twins. The boast of womanhood in the face of traditional family values was genius. Thank you for giving voice to Lorelei.
