Publisher's summary

Two years ago, Noelle North’s then-fiancé left her waiting at the church on Christmas - her wedding day and birthday. Now, she knows she cannot endure another holiday season at home in Boston. At the urging of four women at the assisted-living community where she serves as health director, Noelle decides to rent Seashell Cottage on the Gulf Coast of Florida for the holidays. She meets Silas Bellingham, the cutest seven-year-old boy she’s ever seen, and his great-grandmother, Althea.

Noelle discovers Althea’s caretaker has been abusing her and goes into action, ending up with the temporary care of both Althea and Silas. Becoming part of the Bellingham household has an entirely different series of challenges when it comes to Althea’s grandsons, Jake and Brett, who are having problems of their own with hotels to run and their parents missing in a plane crash.

But after sparring with her, Silas’ father, Jake, realizes Noelle is just what he and his family need, and when she finds the perfect Christmas star for Silas, they both know he’s right.

A Woman As Strong as Steel

What a great find of a new author due to members only sale and narrator ms Dawe. As a devoted fan of this narrator, I purchase just about any of her stories where children are involved. Ms Dawe does excellent voices for children and males.
I buy just about any author who sets their story in the highlands of Scotland and narrated by ms Dawe. Eg:Hanna Howell books 5,6,10. Nora Roberts The MacGregor series.
Mystery author Marcia Clark, Samantha Brinkman series is not to be missed.

Maybe its the season but this wonderful story has a bit different take on the usual holiday romance. I found this authors writing style to be very refreshing with wholesome values brought to life. No erotica, graphic language, and gratuitous sex in this contemporary romance. This is good writing as the story unfolds and the usual journey of new love discovered is done in such a delightful way that this will become a fave re listen during the holidays or whenever I will need a story that brings a bright warm feeling to my heart. See Debbie Macombers Fathers Day.
This book has a great salad dressing recipe on ch 10, and inspired me to enjoy some experimental cooking.
I have added this authors Salty Key Inn series to my wish list.
I hope that our heros brother, Brett, in this story will evolve into his own SeaShell Cottage novel.
Good writing and editing, Well done

Good story and great narration..

Another cute Christmas story. Jake, Noelle and Silas were a very likable threesome. As was Brett, Jake’s brother, and Hazel, Rose, Dorothy and Edith, the three elderly women that Noelle took care of at the New Life Assisted-Living Community. They were a sweet and funny group of women.

The love that Jake felt for Noelle was so sudden it was surprising. No real thoughts about or anything and suddenly he was telling her he loved her. It would have been nice if something had led up to it. BUT it was still entertaining.

No sex and only a couple of kisses.

As to the narration: Again, this is the second book in a row that I bought because of another of my favorite narrators, Angela Dawe. She reads with such emotion and every person has their own distinct voice, men and women both.

A Sweet Christmas Romance

A great intro to a new to me series with this sweet Christmas romance that reminds us to stay open to the small joys of life and to make time for things we enjoy as well as things that we want to do. The plot is quite intriguing with a strong female lead who barges into a family's life and takes over to save an elderly woman from caretaker abuse while the wealthy family is too busy to notice. Once she slaps them in the face with it, they have no choice but to sit up and take notice. Great characters who are well developed and draw you into the story. I am quite intrigued to read/listen to the next book in the series!

A PERFECT CHRISTMAS LOVE

A CHRISTMAS STAR is the first book in the Seashell Cottage series. Each is a stand-alone, sweet romance set at the picturesque cottage on the Florida Gulf Coast shore.

From the beginning, this is a heart-warming, life-affirming, and sweet story.

I loved the strength and humor of the seniors that Noelle nurses. Jake Bellingham’s little boy, Silas and their dog, Duke, are both precious enough to melt any heart. Then there is Jake himself. That man was made for Noelle. The family hasn’t had it easy lately, but it seems that the addition of Noelle in the family has everything turning around. We all need those days of seashells and candy canes at times.

I can’t tell you how happy I am that I read (listened to) this story, but I strongly suggest that you not be on the turnpike for the last chapter. Furthermore, I recommend that you have on hand a whole box of happy sappy Kleenex... and it will be worth it.

Narration: Angela Dawe is an amazing narrator and it was a blessing to listen to her for the last couple of days as I commuted to and from work. Some people have that one perfect kiss that they compare all others against, this will be my one perfect narration.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
