About this listen

The book of Revelation is a very interesting book. With its various symbols, characters, and colorful language, it is also a very complicated book. But it is well worth studying to try to understand the future events of this world. In the pages that follow, the four main approaches that scholars have used for understanding the book of Revelation will be identified. They are the Preterist view, the Historical view, the Allegorical view, and the Futurist view. This text uses the Futurist view, which attempts to apply a literal interpretation whenever possible. This text will also identify seven Bible passages that support a literal eschatology and nine Bible passages that support a pre-Tribulation view of the Rapture. That means that the events being discussed should really happen rather than just make for a good story.

Early in the text, the seven letters to the seven churches will be discussed. After that, things will get down to looking at the rest of the book. The seven seal judgments, the seven trumpet judgments, and the seven vial judgments will be discussed. The one hundred and forty-four thousand Jewish servants will be discussed. The two witnesses will be discussed. The rise of the Antichrist and the False Prophet will be discussed. The Satanic Trinity will be discussed. The mark of the beast will be discussed. An Executive Summary, which seems to be used in the middle of the book of Revelation, will be discussed. Then as the text makes its way to the final chapters, the fall of Babylon, the battle of Armageddon, and the battle of Gog will be discussed. Finally, the white throne judgment, the new heaven and earth, the casting of the Satanic Trinity into the lake of fire, and the new Jerusalem will be discussed. This text will end in Revelation chapter twenty-two with the saints of God in heaven.

There is one note, however, to be made with respect to the organization of this text. Throughout its pages, charts have been provided to help put the events of the chapters into a pictorial representation for easier understanding. It is the idea that a picture can be worth a thousand words. Another thing that the reader of this text might find useful are boxes that show the different passages that are being referenced at the times and in the places where they are being referenced. That way, he or she will not have to jump all over the place or get into or out of the scriptures to locate a particular reference. Hopefully that inclusion will help the reader in trying to understand the various events. The book of Revelation is important to read and try to understand because it is a part of the Word of God. The Lord has given it to His people to help them understand the things that are to come. Therefore, may He receive the praise, honor, and glory from this text that He rightfully deserves.
