About this listen

Masterful storytelling from #1 bestselling global phenomenon Sarah J. Maas brings her sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart.

Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people.

As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin.

While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world in turmoil.

Great story....but too much smut :/

Pros: Great storyline and interesting plot development from book one into book two. I felt the characters, both old and new, were fleshed out well. If you liked the first book in this series, you will love this developments in book two.

Cons: Way too many graphic sex scenes. I really could've done without those--the storyline itself was strong enough that these scenes and the use of foul language seemed to cheapen the depth of the book. The descriptions were waaaaay to long and slowed down the action of the story. I was really surprised that Sarah J. Mass would include such graphic details. Sadly, it's enough to keep me from recommending this series to others. If I wanted a "romance" novel, I would buy one.

WARNING GRAPHIC SEX-NOT SUITABLE FOR YOUTH

THE PUBLISHER HAS THIS TITLE MARKETED TO 11-13 YEAR OLDS AND TEENS. If you’re an adult, it’s a good read. However, please be aware that this book is not appropriate for a child. I’m talking 50 shades of gray level smut marketed to youth. Audible may be taking a major legal liability on this one.

I finished in 3 DAYS and now I'm depressed!

This series is SO good! I am not all that fond of how slow Jennifer Ikeda reads it so I have to speed it up. But Sarah J. Maas BLOWS my mind in this book. SO creative and romantic, great movement in the story, awesome action and she keeps you on your toes the entire time. She makes you love who you're supposed to when you're supposed to but can mix it up just as fast. I loved this book, I'm captivated with this story, and CANNOT WAIT for the next one (hoping it won't be forever until the next book is released)

On the edge of my seat

This sequel was everything. With the writing in conjunction with the narrator this book came alive. While I was listening I could picture each scene, feel the emotions, take in everything that was conveyed. It was amazing ... Can't wait for the third installment.

I'm a sucker...

Okay, I fell for this. I fell hard. This book got me. Sucked me into this world completely. I am 35. I am slightly ashamed of myself for how much I turned into a teen fan-girl over this book. Nah, actually I'm not ashamed cause if I was ashamed I wouldn't own shirts with symbols/lines from this book on them and where them in public..which I do.
Anyways, I enjoyed the slow build of this story. I enjoyed how things unfolded. I yelled at the main character, Feyre, less in this book than I did while listening to ACOTAR...she's finally growing and becoming a character I can tolerate/back.

Best in the series

I wasn't sure of this series after reading the first book and only giving it 3 stars, but I was encouraged to pick up this one and I wasn't disappointed. I love the slow burning romance that filled this book and one thing is for sure Rhysand won me over in this one, him and his inner circle. I thought the story was well worth the time and I.could definitely see myself rereading this one again.

MAAS IS BRILLIANT

Any additional comments?

*** may be spoilers since this is book two ***

Let me start by saying that I am glad I didn't read reviews for this series before I started. I do a lot of times but this time, I decided I wanted to go in blind. I love this author so I knew it would be good. Had I read the reviews I would have realized that there was a love triangle and I wouldn't have even pick the series up. BUT, having said that this "triangle" works. Don't ask my why, but it does. I don't believe it's a "real" triangle. Now, onto the book.

In the first book Maas does a great job at painting Rhysand as the bad guy. I really didn't like him. Although I knew there had to be more to him, because when he brought Feyre to his court he wasn't "forceful".

I love Feyre. She is such a great character. She's strong willed, and feisty, yet she has such a good heart. When she is "rescued" by Rhysand she comes to realize that he has more respect for her than she has given him credit for.

While living with with Rhysand, and spending more time with him, she comes to respect him, and trust him. He allows her into his life, and lets her see parts of him that no one else ever has. When Rhysand and family come to realize that war is close, they come up with a plan to keep his people safe.

Unfortunately someone close to Feyre, has been seeking her out, and when they find her, Feyre realizes they have been betrayed by someone who loves Feyre.

While Feyre has grown into her new powers they soon come to realize that Feyre will do anything she can to keep Rhysand and his people safe from anyone and everyone who tries to defy him.

This is such a great book. I love the banter between Rhysand and Feyre. It's fantastic. The world that Maas has created for this series is fan freaking tastic. I love it so much. Maas's writing is absolutely beautiful. I cannot give enough praise to this series. It has been fantastic...The ONLY downside to this book is the freaking cliff hanger. UGH!!! I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

I have not been compensated in any way for this review. These are my own PERSONAL thoughts on the book.
