About this listen
After seven long years in Devon, Lady Maud Worlington returns to London to reclaim life on her own terms, but a nefarious shadow and the prospect of financial ruin dog her steps. An impulsive and unforgettable kiss under the mistletoe creates a connection with Geoffrey, the handsome, young Duke of Tilbury. Yet, as pleasant as it is to have a suitor, Maud is not sure how a boy of one-and-20 can prove an equal partner in life and the forces mounted against her.
The Duke of Tilbury considers himself as adept at managing matters as he is at swordplay, but his beautiful new acquaintance Lady Worlington has other ideas about how to manage her complicated life. Intrigued by their stolen kiss, Geoffrey pursues Lady Worlington's affections, only to be foiled by the lady's own doubts, by rivals for her hand, and by a sudden death that affects both their families. When Jacob Pevensey, the investigator from Bow Street, enters the scene, the Duke becomes a prime suspect in the murder case. Truths are unearthed that Geoffrey would rather keep hidden, and the 12 days of Christmas race toward a perilous end.

Evan Eldridge never meant to be a war hero - he just wanted to fight Napoleon for the future of his country. And he certainly didn't think that saving the life of a peer would mean being made the Earl of Whitelock. But when the life you save is dear to the Prince Regent, things can change in a hurry. Now Evan has a new title, a manor house in shambles, and a stranger for a bride, all thrust upon him by a grateful ruler. What he doesn't have are all his memories. Traumatized as a result of his wounds and bravery on the battlefield, Evan knows there's something he can't quite remember.

Christmas Magic
A Duel for Christmas is book 3 in a Regency romance by Rosanne E Lortz. Although this book is set during the 12 Days of Christmas, I believe that this sweet romance is perfect for any time if the y. Often it is the Lord that is widowed or older, but in A Duel for Christmas, it is Lady Maud Worlington who is a widow and Geoffrey, the Duke of Tilbury, who is only 21. I thought Marla Johnson gave a wonderful performance in the narration of this story. I believe that the author wove an interesting story that keeps me listening to the end. The road to true love is never smooth and Maud and Geoffrey make their journey very interesting.

Wonderful story
At first I was afraid that this story would be too spicy for my taste, but it was told in a very clean & tasteful manner! I love a good clean historical romance, & this fit the bill. Not only do the main characters get their happy ever after, but the supporting characters do as well! I was left very satisfied!

This was an excellent audiobook
I love 19th century British literature so I loved this story by Rosanne Lortz. Maria Johnson's narration brings the story to life so well that I felt completely immersed into the story, forgetting I was listening to an audiobook. It was hard to stop listening when I needed to pull myself away from the story to do other things. I couldn't wait to get back to it. The story always has you in an excited suspense wanting to know what's going to happen next or how a situation is going to be resolved. This is a 5 star audiobook, narration, and story. I loved it!

A genuine delight!
A Duel for Christmas is a delightful listen! I was so absorbed in the story and the characters, I would find myself thinking about them for hours and days afterward. The narrator's acting is brilliant and each character's voice so distinct, they are instantly recognizable, allowing the listener to become truly immersed in the tale. It was interesting to learn in the author's notes that the story has a strong historical foundation. I highly recommend this and look forward to more audio books by this author and this narrator.
