Publisher's summary

Memphis Rose Griffin loves teaching at Counting Stars Children's Home. The girls and staff are like family and working here ties her to her mother, whose last wish was for Memphis to take her place as teacher. But something's missing. Now at the age of 28, her teenage dream of having her own family has all but faded.

Her pastor and the orphanage founder presents her with a proposal that will change her life forever. Should she become their first candidate for their new matchmaking venture? Though grim, at least her life at the orphanage is familiar and certain. Can she risk an unknown future with a man she's never met?

The last thing 33-year-old Mike Montgomery wants is to marry again, especially to someone he's never met. His family has other plans for him and completes the application without his permission - even changing some of his preferences to make him seem more intriguing. Can two star-crossed candidates dare to dream again?

A Fresh Start for Christmas

The book was interesting. I have not heard of pastors getting together to find spouses for their congregation. Good clean romance. I really enjoyed it and the narration wS great.

Loved This!!

First of all can we just applaud the Pride and Prejudice excerpts!? I'm a huge Austen fan. This was a thrilling inclusion and kept me smiling!

Secondly, this was such a sweet and heartwarming story with likable characters and a perfect plot. This narrator is one of my faves because I can always tell whom is speaking. That's so important to me in a well done audiobook. I loved this and saved it for the time of the year that suited it.

I love this family! They are each so warm while having mischievous play as well. They stand for each other and they make you feel all warm and cozy. I can't wait to see how the other brothers are matched as I'm so ready to go back and spend some more time with them.

Christmas in July!

Kimberly Grist has written a heart warming story featuring Memphis and Mike. Memphis is an teacher, who grew up in the orphanage she is teaching in. At her age now, the minister and his wife think it's time to find her a husband. What better way than then match.com of the old west? Mike is a widower and not looking to ever marry again. With his interfering family, he sends out the questionnaire and Memphis is his match. But will she be really? Can a survey be that correct? It's fun and exciting as we get to go on the letter writing journey of these two, and find their happily ever after.

J Scott Bennett narrates this gem with the voices I have come to love. He finds the personality of each character and matches the perfect voice to it, bringing the story to life. I enjoyed this Christmas story!

taking a chance

I admired Memphis 's willingness to venture into the unknown for a match. I appreciated Mike's family's interferences on his behalf. I enjoyed both characters and the storyline. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

A Family for Christmas

Excellent story of new love and devotion, Memphis is an orphan teaching other orphans in the home she was raised in. Now at the age to marry, her minister and wife start a search for the perfect husband with her consent of course.
The narration was perfect, Scott Bennett has a voice I could listen to for hours and still crave more.
I am really enjoying these mail order bride stories; the bit of history you gleam from each story adds to the depth of the story and the circumstances the characters are living in.

Sweet Historical Romance

I read Daisy’s story, “A Bride for David (The Proxy Brides Book 37)”, first, so i was confused on why Daisy doesn’t appear after Memphis meets her groom. But otherwise I loved the story tremendously! I giggled several times from the antics of the couple and their “niece”!

Character development was great!

I listened to this one on audio. I really like this narrator. I have listened to him before reading other stories and he is great. He brings subtle nuances to his voice and brings the characters and story to life. I don't think you can go wrong with J. Scott Bennett.

The story is great. I love the idea of this story. I know you hear of orphans in stories, but she wasn't really, but she was. I loved the characters in this book. The names are fantastic I must admit. Like this family, I do something every year for Christmas as well. They gave me a few ideas that I will implement. I do look forward to the rest in the series.

A sweet Christmas romance!

Grist’s books but I must say this is one of my favorite of hers. Also Jay Scott Bennett is one of my favorite historical romance narrators and I thought he did a wonderful job with a fresh start for Christmas. If you log historical romance you’re going to love this first book in a series. With God family and love the three ingredients that make a great book! Please forgive any grammatical or punctuation or Elvis as I am blind and dictate my reviews but all opinions are my ownVoluntary. When the lady who runs the orphan home where Memphis Rose lives tells her that her friend Tennessee he has a few strapping boys in that one that’s filled out an application for a bride. Memphis Rose doesn’t know what to think. She is comfortable at the office and home, but she does want a husband and children and if her mentor not only knows but trust the family. Then Memphis will take the leap and trust them as well. Everything is different when she gets to the MontgomeryFamily home. They’re one big loving family and she’s never had that, but the more see if they are the more she wants it. This book was so good I love Kimberly
