Publisher's summary

Cassandra Marks had dedicated her life to helping orphaned children around the world find families - something she never had. Life was everything she'd expected it to be for a woman who lived to work. She was only 30 when her world was turned upside down with one sentence: "I'm sorry, we've confirmed you have breast cancer." Giving up was not an option, but fighting cancer was harder than she'd imagined. Her work with worldwide orphanages was put on hold as she had to focus on herself, not her dream job.

Not all humans received guardian angels. Only those living a life that would leave a lasting impression on the world were so lucky. Gabriel, a direct descendant of the Archangel of the same name, lost his battle wings after he trusted a fallen angel and others died. He was saved from losing his wings thanks to his father - but it meant becoming a guardian angel. His first charge was less than he hoped for, but he was committed to Cassandra Marks to prove he was worthy of returning to battle.

Gabriel and Cassandra should never have met, but with her life in danger, he's sent to Earth in human form to judge her and see if she is worthy. While there, he finds himself falling in love with a woman who is destined to die. It's up to him to convince his fellow angels she is to live, and up to her to decide if she can handle being the woman to make a guardian angel fall.

Please read this review in its entirety. This is one that is a bit harder for me to write, and do the story justice.

First lets talk about the overall of this book. I truly loved these characters. They were amazing. I loved the idea behind the story. For the most part it was very well written and enjoyable.

Next the narration. Since I listened to the audiobook I can't ignore the narration. This narrator was a new one to me. I think she did a decent job of bringing the story to life. She is a narrator I would be willing to listen to again.

Now, the critical. As a health care worker, a medical laboratory scientist to be precise, there were some things about this story that got under my skin and impacted my overall enjoyment of the story. As a reader I know it isn't always possible for every aspect of a health condition for a character to be fact checked, but I feel like this one wasn't checked at all. There is no comprehensive exam where a provider is going to order the blood tests needed to diagnose breast cancer, those tests are only ever ordered if breast cancer is already suspected from a mammogram. Also, a nurse would never perform a mammogram even if she was assisted by a radiology tech. Because a mammogram is a radiology procedure it can only be done by someone who has been to school for radiology technology.

If you can get past the inaccuracies in this story it is a great story and would have had at least a 4 star rating from me.
