Publisher's summary

Miss Lydia Charingford is always cheerful, and never more so than at Christmas time. But no matter how hard she smiles, she can't forget the youthful mistake that could have ruined her reputation. Even though the worst of her indiscretion was kept secret, one other person knows the truth of those dark days: the sarcastic Doctor Jonas Grantham. She wants nothing to do with him... or the butterflies that take flight in her stomach every time he looks her way.

Jonas Grantham has a secret, too: He's been in love with Lydia for more than a year. This winter, he's determined to conquer her dislike and win her for his own. It all starts with a wager and a kiss...

My favourite of the series so far!

I think it's safe to say that I'm now bingeing this series. Courtney Milan writes such different characters with real experiences. And this one even had a very direct doctor who talked about sex in scientific terms. Who would have thought that would be remarkably sexy??? Ugh. Swoon.

Different

Enjoyed both story and performance. Not the usual topic or treatment. Liked the characters and how the story unfolded.

Truly marvelous!

Although this book is short, it fulfilled all my expectations. The story centers around Lydia Charingford and Jonas Grantham, a medical doctor. Lydia is the best friend of Minnie, the heroine of book 1, and I really appreciated getting to know her. This is another great addition to this series. Stunning narration by Rosalyn Landor makes this a 5 star listen once again.

plain speaking

Dr. Jonas Grantham doesn't mince words. He's straightforward and literal . In this short novella, he is determined to win over Miss Lydia Charingford . In the past he was unfortunately a witness to the results of her youthful transgressions. When they meet five years later she recognizes him but he doesn't remember her. She's just number eleven on his list of possible wives to check out. She wants nothing to do with him but he doggedly pursues her. Very few characters in this novella but all were very likable. I especially liked Jonas and his straightforward way of speaking. Great story line, loved it.

very good!

The reader was good and used different voices, but wasn't annoying.

The book was believable, even for how short it was. It was humorous and sad, but not so sad that everything else was overshadowed. The author balanced it nicely with the cheer and the good in the book. This is definitely a drama, not a romantic comedy.

Spoilers: she was taken advantage of when she was 15 (lover told her intercourse wasn't how you got pregnant) and ended up pregnant...later found out her lover was married. The doctor at the time prescribed "medicine" that induced a miscarriage. This is a story of how she overcomes her past and learns to trust again.

Excellent Christmas Love Story...

I loved this story and listened to it I a day. It's a sweet and sexy love story that show you real characters with believable flaws. It's not a perfect love story but one with real struggles and bumps in the way. But at the end love conquers all and gives you a very satisfying happily ever after. The narration was impeccable as well and the Christmas theme was executed to perfection. I highly recommend this book.

Beautiful Story - Book 3 of The Brothers Sinister

Lydia is Minnie's best friend from the 2nd book, The Duchess War. There were some passing statements in that book regarding Lydia's "situation". The story was short but so in depth.
I felt this book in my heart and couldn't stop listening. I love the story between Lydia and John.
Rosalyn Landor, of course I can never give enough praise to. She makes every book she reads a joy to listen to.

Unique story

A very unique story for Christmas. Lots if plain talk about sex, lots of arguments and some romance. The last hour or so is very sweet and worth the time spent. I do recommend but be aware it's not your typical Christmas story. Rosalyn Landor is a wonderful narrator.
