About this listen

Cordell Atwood’s best friend and boss found a successful mail-order bride through a matchmaker, and Cord decides it’s time for him to marry since he’s started his own Texas horse ranch. With the forward town flirt casting her eyes from Marshall to him, he decides to write to the matchmaker as well. When Miss Moriah Williams arrives from Georgia, he’s never seen such a beautiful woman, but the moment he opens his mouth, she turns to ice.

Moriah Williams is tired of being seen as just a beautiful object that men want to possess. Since her parents are pressuring her into a shallow marriage, she decides to go west as a mail-order bride. Men of the West were known to be real, practical men who appreciate hard work. But she barely gets out of the stagecoach before her intended is telling her how beautiful she is.

Great

I listened to this one on audio. Sometimes it is hard to review a book on audio. Why? Well sometimes you love the book, yet the narrator got on your nerves at times. This is the case here. I have listened to this narrator before and the way he narrates was ok for that book. However this time I thought he had a whinny voice which did not go with the character. The female narrator was good. I did really love that there were two narrators. I still liked the audiobook.

The book itself was great. I liked the storyline and characters. I thought they were well written and there was a lot of research and thought that went into this story. It is very realistic.

A Safe Match

Another enjoyable book with a fantastic narrator. Moriah hates being treated as a beautiful object and hates the idea of marrying Mr. Stone more. One option is to contact a matchmaker and become a mail order bride. She is matched to Cordell in Texas and travels from Georgia to meet him. Of course, when the meet, the first thing out of Cordell’s mouth is how beautiful she is, which puts her off. She just wants to be treated as a normal woman. Follow them as they figure things out.
I was given a copy of the book by the author for an honest review.

Love it!

This is a beautiful story about a young woman who runs away to become a mail order bride. She finds a good husband but becomes aggravated by him because he mentions her beauty. As things finally start to look promising for their relationship, trouble seems to find her. You'll need to read it for yourself to find out just what happens in this fun, thrilling, wholesome book.

The narrator did a nice job. However, I am not a fan of Cord's voice, it is a little whiny for my taste.

Enjoyed the story

This was This is a very good book. It is sweet and clean yet full of adventure, friendship, and romance. Cord is super excited to have his bride arrive. But when she seems very cool and he has no idea the reason. So he keeps saying the wrong thing but doesn't realize what his mistake is. And Moriah . . . . Well you'll need to read this one and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Love is patient!

The narration is not the greatest. E.J. Lavery is wonderful with the female voices, but as I have said before, Mr. Birk just does not sound natural. The male voices do not fit the characters very well and seem very "forced" or "put on". Hopefully these comments will be taken as intended--constructive.

I requested this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
