About this listen

FBI special agent Mercy Kilpatrick has been waiting her whole life for disaster to strike. A prepper since childhood, Mercy grew up living off the land — and off the grid — in rural Eagle’s Nest, Oregon. Until a shocking tragedy tore her family apart and forced her to leave home. Now a predator known as the cave man is targeting the survivalists in her hometown, murdering them in their homes, stealing huge numbers of weapons, and creating federal suspicion of a possible domestic terrorism event. But the crime scene details are eerily familiar to an unsolved mystery from Mercy’s past.

Sent by the FBI to assist local law enforcement, Mercy returns to Eagle’s Nest to face the family who shunned her while maintaining the facade of a law-abiding citizen. There, she meets police chief Truman Daly, whose uncle was the cave man’s latest victim. He sees the survivalist side of her that she desperately tries to hide, but if she lets him get close enough to learn her secret, she might not survive the fallout....

Real Potential But...

This book had real potential but the characters’ relationships didn’t ring true. Mercy was both very strong and very weak. Almost bipolar. I enjoyed parts of it but I rushed the completion to finish it.

Excellent

Kept me engaged. I enjoyed this book greatly. I was tired and didn't fall asleep with yhe book dead bodies, teenagers, prepperws. Not a religion but as close enough to make you wonder.

Interesting book, good narration

Interesting story, with wonderful narration. It is not a gripping, edge of your seat story, but well worth the listen!

The mysterious deaths

This book was written well and kept me guessing until the end. The emotions of the police and FBI agents were interesting and realistic. I want to read more from this talented author.

Great book, with much more to offer in the future!

The thing that I loved the most about this book, was that the author left a lot of details and backstory on the table for the rest of the series. She gave us everything that we needed for this story, but a lot of the backstory of the characters was left unsaid, so there is sure to be more revelations in the next few books! Gets me excited to move on in the series!

This is a great story. I love detective/police procedural books, and this one did not disappoint. The characters were rich and very well developed, and I found myself routing for them right from the start! The narration on this one was fantastic, as well. on to the next book in the series!
