When a mysterious being gives Frank Edison the chance to travel back in time to prevent his brother’s death, he jumps at the chance. Being a first-time temporal traveler, however, he does not realize how sinister meddling with the past can be.

Frank returns from his successful attempt only to realize that he has completely rewritten his own history. His wife, Christine, instead chose to marry his brother, and his own life has been ruined, leaving him a widower with few prospects.

Full of regret, Frank struggles to adapt to his new life and with the decision that threatens to drive him over the brink of insanity: Risking time travel again, or accepting his new bleak future.

Time Travel with a Twist

Frank is given a unique opportunity to rewrite his family history and he grabs it with both hands. Leaving his wife and child behind, he leaps at the chance given to him by a mysterious being to correct the death of his brother by traveling into the past. Once there, he discovers another person bent on preventing him from making any changes! Once he returns home after saving his brother, Frank discovers nothing is as it should have been. Preventing his brother’s death ensures the death of another loved one and a new life completely foreign to him. Another attempt is made to right both wrongs and hopefully …

The author, Michael D. Young cleverly crafted a time-traveling story complete with realistic life-changing differences, the result of having to face consequences and he introduces other worlds into a captivating story. It was clearly written with only one or two places that required closer listening. Each character was well-developed blending into the story and action well. The storyline was clear with a few plot twists that left the listener thrown for a loop as the story unfolded.

The narrator, Stephen Paul did an amazing job of keeping the voices for each character (and there were a lot) straight and the story flowing smoothly. His unique voices fit each character’s personality well. He kept the action and adventure intense. I found his voice dynamic as he shifted between the various emotions and tenseness of each situation and character. His involvement further enhanced the book.

This is one of those gems that surprises you a few minutes into the story and keeps you listening until the end.
