Publisher's summary

An immortal wanderer. A brilliant scientist. A centuries-old menace written in blood.

Lucien Thrax, son of the earth and child of the ancients, is a healer of immense power. But years of work on a deadly vampire virus have not led to a cure, nor have they softened the wall he built around his heart. When he’s forced to work with Doctor Makeda Abel, Lucien is convinced he’s reached his limit of patience with humanity.

Makeda Abel may be human, but she’s far from impressed with the brooding vampire healer, even if his mind draws her reluctant admiration. She’s learned how to survive in the immortal world, and it’s not by being afraid. Working together may lead them to answers, but it also pushes Lucien and Makeda’s attraction to the boiling point.

When nightmares become reality, Makeda will have to trust Lucien with her life. Finding answers has never been more vital. Finding love has never been more deadly. To heal the elemental world, Lucien and Makeda must follow ancient paths and ask for help from the most inhuman of immortals. Because even with a cure in hand, the battle has only begun.

A Stone-Kissed Sea is the fourth novel in the Elemental World series.

A Fun, Culture-Filled Adventure!

A Stone-Kissed Sea was an enjoyable audiobook, with a unique twist to a vampire series. I loved the culture incorporations but I did feel that the narrator’s pronunciation was a bit off a few times. Overall I thought the narrator was great. I enjoyed the audiobook. On my list to listen to again! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Cure for my heart

I have initially thought that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy this book if I haven’t listened to the books leading up to this one, but it was amazingly good. I enjoyed the love story as much as the back story on curing the disease.

The narration was fantastic and the narrator has an awesome male voice. The narrator definitely features on my top 10 list of narrators.

Entertaining

Lucien and Makeda’s story is full of unusual events and frenemies to lovers prose that is riveting. I really enjoyed the characters and we even got to be entertained by many past favorites. I have both the ebook and audiobook versions and loved the ability to switch between the two so that I could continue this story. The audiobook narrator did a great job!

Fantastic Finish to the Elixir Story Arc

As a fairly huge fan of Elizabeth Hunter and the entire Elemental World series with all of its entities, I realized the other day after reading a missed book from the series that somehow I had missed a few of the last books in a couple of the different spinoffs. So, I decided that I better rectify that...stat :)

This book was the culmination of the Elixir story arc (and for those of us fans, that WAS a while ago) I truly am not sure how I missed this, but of well. What I can say was that it was such a joy to be back in that world and to meet a new couple - Dr. Lucian Thrax and Dr. Makeda Abel. They are scientists being tasked to find a sloution....any solution to combat the deaths that are occurring in both the Vampire and Human world.

There were a lot of things that I enjoyed about this book, but one of the very best, was getting to see the Ancients - Saba, Arosh, and Kato - and getting to see just how powerful these ancients really are. The next thing that I loved was that while it was a story between Lucian and Makeda, we also got to see several of out favorite characters come out to play. There was Brigid, Carwyn, Tenzin (yay!- still in her kind of crazy phase...), and Baojia. We also peripherally heard about Giovanni and a couple of others.

Can this be read as a stand alone? Probably. But why would you want to? Ms. Hunter has created such an amazing world of complex and fantastic characters in such a world of non stop drama and action but most of all family. Yes...family. In this dangerous world of death, betrayal and deadly plots the trait that is the strongest is the creation of the bonds that are bonds of choice and stronger than steel. I LOVE THAT....

About this book, it's been a while since I've been in this world, but I remember Lucian as being pretty arrogant. This book delves into him in a much deeper fashion and we get to see who he really is. And Saba. It is hard for me to imagine someone older than Tenzin - and she's over 5000 years old. Mind boggling...just seriously...

So, the Elixir arc is completed, but there are several Easter Eggs thrown out about the next direction for this World and having already read those, all I can say is... THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!!!

Such a phenomenal storyline!

First and foremost, I love that we had an African [American] character! I love that her mate also embraced the culture of the Continent. I love that they touched on the rich history of Ethiopia: its ancient churches and its lush landscape. I especially love that Saba, the mother of all looks like me. ❤️❤️❤️ I love that her character is so complex: kind, stern, wise, emotional, grounded, loving, yet terrible in judgement. This is probably my favorite book in the series so far. Thank you, Elizabeth!!!!

Worth the wait?

I feel like I have been waiting for this book to come out as an audio book FOREVER, so when I saw that it was available I was ecstatic! Right up to the point where I realized that the narrator was different from every other book in the Elemental World & Elemental Mysteries series.

I am a big proponent of consistency, and this is exactly why. Though Ava Lucas did a good job narrating this book, the consistency that we had flowing through the other books is gone. It was obvious to me from the very beginning that the narrator did not listen to any of the other books in either series to get a feel for the pronunciations, personalities or background of these much beloved characters. This was most obvious in her pronunciation of Lucien Thrax's name, but it didn't stop there, and though I have no intention of naming every little mispronunciation she made, just know that they were on many of the keywords that have been used throughout these series.

However, what's done is done and there is no use crying over spilt milk. And if I was just judging this narrator on this book alone, without its relationship to this series and universe as a whole, I would say that Ava Lucas did a good job keeping the voices for the characters in this book consistent and adding her own unique brand of dramatic flair to draw you into the story.

As for the book as a whole, Elizabeth Hunter, as always, did a wonderful job of drawing you in and holding on to you through out the book… Not to mention giving you ample reasons to want to return to this amazing universe!

Different Narrator

This book in the series had a different Narrator. It took me several chapters to “know” the characters again. Sort of a bummer.
