About this listen

A hilarious story about a change in plans - the most harrowing, beautiful, and unforgettable day in the life of the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Basketball (and Other Things) and his miraculous wife.

Two days before Shea and Larami Serrano were to be married, four months into her pregnancy with twin boys, she went into labor. Stuck in a hospital room, fearing the worst, and dismantling a year’s worth of preparations in a matter of hours - the couple decides that the show must go on. Told from Shea’s and Larami’s dual perspectives, this memoir shows the powerful bond that can arise from adversity, a sense of humor, and mutual trust.

Shea Serrano’s A Wedding Thing is part of The One, a collection of seven singularly true love stories of friendship, companionship, marriage, and moving on. Each piece can be read or listened to in a single sitting, with or without company.

I dont really do romance stories, but I thought this was great. It is short, but it's meaning to me is profound. Loved it

Good wedding story

Liked how the story was told from both perspectives. People are more resilient than they imagined. Nice narration.

Worth listening to as often as you have the time

Sweet love story that should be required for all persons considering marriage or committed relationship. This is the very definition of love, I laughed, I cried, I related. This is the ONLY of the many Audible Originals I have listened to that I would recommend. Excellent use of 34 minutes. I will be looking for more from the Serrano’s.

great listen

I loved both of their voices for the narration. I sometimes struggle with listening because the narrator's voice sounds too digital or something.

Twin hearts

To quote the two little kids trying to set up Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan In “Sleepless in Seattle,” Shea and Larami are “M.F.E.O. (Made For Each Other).” I especially appreciated the dueling narratives telling, then re-telling, the same event from different perspectives. Rather than competing, this structure gives a better panoramic view of the story as well as the couple telling it; indeed, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
