Publisher's summary

In 1967, nine-year-old AJ wins a trip to Ireland to spend Christmas in a medieval castle. There's only one drawback; she has to bring her big Italian family along.

It doesn't take long for AJ to drive her prom-queen sister crazy with her newly acquired Irish accent, or to take revenge on her brother with her Spooky Suzu doll hanging above his bed at night.

Hop on the Blarney bus with the Degulio's , a group of tap dancers, and a family of yodelers for a rip roaring ride around Ireland. You may learn some interesting history amid the chaos in this comical coming-of-age adventure seen through the eyes of quirky AJ. You will never see Ireland the same again.

A feel-good listen for ages eight to adult.

Great Prequel! Degulios in Ireland

AJ's Ireland: A Saving Sailor Prequel written by Renee Riva. The narration is provided by Jennifer Satwekar. The setting for this is 1967 and AJ has won the Degulio family a trip to Ireland to spend Christmas in a real medieval castle. All she did was force the family into traditional Irish clothes she sowed with her Grandmother for a photo she entered into a cereal box contest. But if you have heard the first story with AJ you will know what awaits the listener as the Dejulio family visits Ireland.

The story holds the listener's attention with the hilarity of AJ’s antics of her Irish accent, singing, upsetting her sister and family. The winning of the trip to the real medieval castle is not all it was sold as to the 3 winning groups. They take a scenic tour of Ireland via bus and maybe the final and great destination of a castle is not as it seems. The tour company that hosts the contest winners along with the Degulios are priceless They are a family of yodelers and a group of over 40-year young tap dancers. Little does the Degulio Family realize is that they are to compete one night for the chance to win a top prize a photo of the winners placed on the cereal box!

The narration by Jennifer Satwekar in this audio production was truly enjoyable. This is the first time I have ever heard a performance from Ms. Sawekar. Her performance of AJ was highly memorable. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Renee Riva delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sweetest Story of the the Most Aspirational Girl!

AJ is the daughter of a Italian-Irish family, and she is a stitch! You will enjoy every minute of this audiobook of how one plucky young girl manages to drag her reluctant family to an Irish "Castle" via a trip she won.

The narrator, Jennifer Satwekar, does a wonderful job of embodying AJ, who will not be daunted, even when her brothers drown her favorite doll in the castle moat, and the entire affair is a fun, family-friendly jaunt, and just all-around adorable!

Renee Riva writes the happiest stories that will lift you up no matter your age; she brings out the joy in your heart in and makes you happy you listened to every second of her books.

Good Quick Read

AJ’s Ireland: A Christmas Comedy (A.J. #0.5) was another great read by Renee Riva. The year is 1967 and AJ won a trip for her family to spend Christmas in Ireland in a medieval castle. AJ has quickly annoyed her sister and taken revenge on her brother. This was a good quick read that followed AJ and her family in Ireland. I can’t wait to read more by Renee Riva.
