Bringing Awareness for Adult Autism Spectrum

This is such a wonderful book! I appreciate that the author is bringing awareness to the subject of Autism in adults, and emphasizes that it is simply a different brain structure with different gifts & talents, not a detriment. I also appreciate that this book is educational in nature, especially for those who need more understanding of what autism is, and have family members who possess autistic quality traits. It's so graceful that it states many adults have not been properly diagnosed until later stages of life, and this helps shed some light for family members and/or diagnosed adult! If you have autism/autistic traits, this is not something to be ashamed about, but rather to embrace as a strength quality. I highly recommend this book!

Help for those who need the info

Finding help and getting a diagnosis as an adult with autism can be SO difficult, that is, if you don’t know where to look. However, Jason Jones lays down the foundational understandings for everything one could want to know about navigating the world through the lens of an adult with autism. I particularly love the stuff on sensory overload as this can be an area of extreme difficulty. I love how there are personal accounts of people that have autism so that the listener can relate, and as someone who has stimmed their whole life and shown a ton of autistic traits and not really known why, it is liberating and exciting even to know that I am not alone. The personal accounts really hit home in this area.

Great Life skills book for autistic adults!

This book provides great skills for navigating various aspects of life from social and financial skills, to networking and cooking. I really like that the book offers specific steps at each stage for autistic adults, while also emphasizing that everyone on the spectrum (and every human) is unique. The book brings the autism community together to help foster understanding and help bring success within the community and also within the neurotypical world. It discusses how to ask for small accommodations that improve life for everyone involved.

Good guide to understand Autism

As someone with ADHD and a close friend on the autism spectrum, I picked up this book to better understand executive dysfunction and sensory overload. It was a relief to find such practical, well-explained advice. The book covered everything from crafting a sensory diet to navigating social interactions, and even making cooking more autism-friendly—which I found incredibly helpful. While I appreciated the diverse examples, I wish the author had used more identity-first language and explored certain topics in more depth. Overall, it's a fantastic resource for anyone looking to learn more.
