About this listen
Ever,
I don't know who I am anymore. I'm a castaway. Lost. Drowning. I love you. That's the only true thing I know, and it's all I have to hold on to. I love you. I'll love you forever. Until the day I die, and I'll love you in whatever world comes after this one. I love you so much, Ever. I miss you. Dear Jesus, I miss you. Come back to me.
For forever, and after forever,
Caden

It was just supposed to be just a 40th birthday prank for our boss after a wild night of girlfriends, laughter, and a lot of margaritas. When we placed the ad in the newspaper, we never thought anyone would actually answer it. We also didn't think that Laurel would be so brainless as to put Lizzy's actual phone number in the ad....

Story
So how did I get myself into this situation, you ask? Simple: desperation. When you're faced with being homeless and hungry or taking off your clothes for money, the choice is easier than you'd imagine. That doesn't make it simple, though. Oh no. I hate it, in fact. There's nothing I'd like more than to quit and never go into another bar again, never hear the techno beat pulsing in my ears again, never feel the lecherous gazes of horny men again. Then, one day, I meet a man. He's in my club, front and center. He watches me do my routine, and his gaze is full of hunger.

Story
One year ago, I buried my husband. One year ago, I held his hand and said goodbye. Now I spend most of my days lost somewhere between trying to remember every smallest detail of our lives, and trying to forget it all. I fill my hours with work until I’m too exhausted to remember him, to feel anything at all. One year, 365 days - and then one knock at my door changes everything. A letter from him, a last request, a secret will: My dearest Nadia, trust me, my love. One last time, trust me. Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.

Story
When my husband Oliver died, my life ended. My purpose, my passion, my everything bled out with him on the side of the Pacific Coast Highway. Ollie was an organ donor. His eyes, his brain, his lungs, his heart...parts of my Ollie went out and saved lives. Then his heart, beating in another man's chest, found its way back to me, and I found myself faced with an impossible choice: hold on to the pain and beauty of the past and the memory of the man I loved, or reach for a bold new future.

Story
Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, right? That's what they say, at least. I went into that day hoping I'd get the happiest day of my life. What I got? The worst. I mean, you really can't get any worse of a day without someone actually dying. So...I may have gotten just a little drunk, and maybe just a tad impetuous...and landed myself in a dive bar somewhere in Alaska, alone, still in my wedding dress, half wasted and heartbroken.

It started with a window that was jammed shut. Pretty simple, right? All I wanted was to open the windows while I tidied the house. I'd been after my no-good husband to do it for months, but he never did. And then he shacked up with his secretary, leaving me with a pile of bills, husband-free for the first time in 10 years, and with a house that was falling apart. The ad popped up on the side of my social media feed - a local contracting agency willing to do pretty much anything. Since I don't really know a screwdriver from a ratchet, I gave them a call.

In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I'll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I've fought to forget. And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen. Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can't bury the past, and they're right.

Football star. Single dad. And once, a long time ago, mine. I’ve spent the better part of a decade forgetting Ford Ellis. Wow!! Talk about Betrayal!!
Where does After Forever rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very high... Not judging any one on this story...
I felt sorry for Caden, Eden and Ever. Caden for trying to hang on to be loyal. Eden for missing her twin sister. And Ever, so young to be in a comma.
The sex scene was so amazing. I can visualize everything in the sex the scene.
What other book might you compare After Forever to and why?
This story line reminded me of one of Marie Force books - Treading Water.
Which character – as performed by Piper Goodeve and Gabriel Vaughan – was your favorite?
They were perfect! I need to follow more of their stories together!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Mixed Feelings
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I really hated the character Eden. I almost stopped listening to this book because I disliked her so much. I had to listen to the end before I could even listen to the whole book.

I need the next book!!!
Books that tear at my heartstrings are sometimes easier for me to listen to than to read. So I've been ever so patiently waiting for the release of this audio book. I was pleasantly surprised when it was available right when I was at a break between listening to books and I started in the day it was released.
Jasinda Wilder always connects to the emotion of a story. I didn't take the time to go back and listen to the last chapter of Forever and Always (Book One) to refresh my memory like I normally would. Instead I dove right in. And I immediately remembered where we left off.
After Forever was full of angst, want and need. Full of the struggle between living and not, wanting and trying not to, taking and giving. From go, the struggle was deeply imbedded into the story line.
Because apparently I read things into every story I read, I predicted a few of the twists and turns. But that didn't make it any less enjoyable...if that's the right word. This book left off right where I figured it would, and oh how I can't wait for the final audio book to drop. I have the ebooks on my Kindle and have since their respective release days, but I fully believe that Piper Goodeve and Gabriel Vaughan add something special to this story, and I intend to wait to listen to Saving Forever, to let them bring it full circle.
Kudos to Jasinda for delving into a subject that could be considered touchy for some. As always, she provided the exact level of story to make the listener connect with and care about these characters. I need to know what happens in the final book. I need to know that Cade and Ever, and even Eden are okay. I hope that we see a HEA, but that's what I always hope for. Jasinda will tie it all together with a perfect little bow, and I can't wait. But alas, for now I must.

Gripping, sad and beautiful!
Book two was as compelling as the first book was. I adore the writing style and the way the author has a finger on the pulse of human emotions and the ease with which it is to find yourself in a complicated mess. She writes so well it's easy to be completely immersed in the characters. I can't wait to see how this all comes together in book three. Read these stories, you will be glad you did.

My heart can't take all this turmoil
from NOLA504NERDS blog
Last week I finished ‘The Ever Trilogy" by Jasinda Wilder, and I haven’t stopped crying since. Let’s start with the first book, Forever & Always. This book takes you by complete surprise. "Forever & Always was joyful, heartbreaking, breathtaking, angsty, hopeful and sexy” (The Book Blog, 2013) "Each page bleeds emotion, heartbreak, tragedy and a deep-seated need for connection. This story is a journey." (Vilma's Book Blog, 2013) I’m trying to find the words to describe this book but can’t come up with anything better than what The Book Blog and Vilma’s Book Blog stated.
It starts out so sweet and innocent. Just 2 young pen pals struggling in their crazy worlds. Both experience things too tragic and sad for teenagers to ever go through. Through their struggles and tragedies, they had each other’s letters for support and guidance. Through the letters, they built a lasting love full of trust and loyalty. The kind of meaningful, significant, and unwavering love that we all long for. The amount of pain these 2 have to go through in life is staggering. Jasinda Wilder does such an incredible job making you feel every ounce of that pain along with Ever and Cade. Your heart breaks for them. Your heart also aches for them to find each other again. You spend most of the book experiencing their growing connection through their letters to each other. It’s magical. When they finally meet again, it’s like everything in the world falls in to place. Life is great again. But the ending.... As much as I love Jasinda Wilder’s writing, I cursed her for hours for nearly giving me a heart attack. I’m so glad the next books were already out because I don’t think I could’ve survived without them. I mean, you kind of knew there would end up being a cliffhanger. But this one was not expected. Jasinda Wilder’s writing style never disappoints. I’d first become obsessed with Jasinda’s stories when I read her Fallen series last year. I didn’t think she could possibly make me feel any more emotional turmoil than I did for that series. Man, was I wrong! Her stories flow so effortlessly. They’re well written, beautiful, emotional, and unforgettable. I full on ugly cried at the end of this book. Not just a few tears. Full on wailing and sobbing in the office bathroom then stuffing my face with strawberry Poptarts and Starbucks. Some people don't like books with tragedies or the reality that comes from such. I think it speaks volumes to what a successful storyteller the author is to make me feel such personal turmoil.
As far as the narrators - This book wouldn't be as emotionally charged if it wasn't for them. They delivered the script with such enthusiasm. They were emotionally connected to the characters and convincingly brought them to life. This audiobook series wouldn't be the same without them.
5 Ugly-Cry Stars!
~~~~~
For the other 2 books in the series: I’m not going to review them because there’s no possible way to do that without major spoilers. I may review them on Goodreads and Amazon though. I will say this… I think people were way too harsh in their reviews. I think sometimes people forget that these are stories and if it were reality it would play out much differently. Books 2 and 3 make you feel confusion and intense anger. Book 2 especially questions your moral compass and sanity. Your mind almost can’t comprehend everything that’s happening in book 2. It screws with your emotions unlike anything I’ve ever read before. To quote another reviewer, “It is also the most at war I have ever been with my morals and my conscience whilst reading a book. I still don't know what to make of my feelings, if I'm honest. I don't know whether I'm okay with the direction this book took. I don't know whether I understand, whether I accept it, whether it's okay or whether it's totally wrong. I know, this all sounds very cryptic... but I just can't give you any more information because you need to experience this all for yourself to have any chance of judging these characters fairly.” (Smitten’s Book Blog, 2013) The thing I highly suggest/recommend that you remember when starting book 2 [without spoiling it] is consider from a medial point of view the logistics here. If this were real life, things would be completely different and the story would’ve ended in the first few chapters. Keep that same mindset as you enter book 3 and appreciate the journey for what it is. I hope you all enjoy this unforgettable trilogy as much as I did.
Excellent Followup To Forever and Always
This one picks up right after the Christmas Eve accident that leaves Caden severely injured and Ever in a persistent coma. Caden's recovery and his therapy a good portion of one chapter as it describes his slow but fairly steady progress. Following his injuries Caden is unable to drive so it's Eden that gets him both to his own doctor's appointments and visits to Ever becomes a dual proposition.
Okay for anyone who hasn't read the jacket on book three of the trilogy I'm about to hit you with a major SPOILER ALERT HERE.
What happened between Eden and Caden seemed inevitable to me from the time the words persistent vegetative coma were spoken. Ever was not only the connection between them, she was in some ways their only connection to the outside world for either of them. Add to that Eden is Ever's twin and the closest Caden can get to the woman he loves. In Eden's case she's always been envious of her sister and has always wanted what Ever had.
Some of the reviewers have seemed shocked by the outcome of their togetherness; however I could see no other way that it was gonna go. Two desperate, frantic people with only one friend and one real connection outside of their own worlds it had to happen the way it did. Even the event that pushes Eden to run away will dovetail with the realities of Ever's current condition.
I'm risking my man card by writing this, but it's a great followup and I've already purchased book three. I just hope I'm capable keeping my tears down to the level of two overly hormonal post adolescent girls on that one.
Grab the tissues!
This second book in the series is heartbreakingly sad but so worth a read. You won't be disappointed.
