About this listen
Alice lives under the radar in a small town where nothing ever happens. And that's how she likes it. But her quiet life is upended when Trey Hensley transfers to the elite Mansfield Prep boarding school nearby. Trey's arrival brings the paparazzi and a whole lot of chaos.
"Only the target survives."
A single moment changes everything for Alice. After witnessing a failed abduction of Trey, she's suddenly on the run with a virtual stranger. Trey is handsome and charming, but she's read enough of the tabloids to know he's a bad idea. Without knowing who ordered the kidnapping, the pair is thrust into a twisted race between the truth and survival.

Mesmerizing
This is so good. It is fast paced and well thought out. I really enjoyed all the plot twists and turns. Who is the real Alice. Journey to discover who and where Alice comes from. Watch her relationship with Trey develop and see where that takes them. The narrator did a really great job. This is easy to listen to and riveting.

Could not stop listening
This was a very fast pace thrilling novel to listen too! I don’t listen to a lot of spy/thriller type novels so this was entertaining. I just wanted to know what happens! This is a prequel/stand along novel to Sophie Davis Blind Barriers series. I haven’t read the Blind Barriers series yet but I assume this leads right into that story line.
Alice is a strong female lead. I enjoyed listening to her journey and her ability to survive. The romance between Alice and Trey is cute. It’s clean YA.there is a lot of action that happens and I do enjoy that the characters act more maturely. They weren’t annoying teenagers going right into danger. Things were well calculated and thought out.
The narration was done so well by Sarah Puckett. I really enjoyed the voice she lent to the female characters and for Trey. I did get a bit annoyed by the male side characters. They sounded very nasally and high pitched.... but you don’t really hear that much from them. Also, I will mention I listed at 1.5 speed.
Overall, I would definitely recommend giving this book a listen if you are into the thriller type novels. This one is not as complex as others but it was still entertaining.

Fast paced and interesting story
The story picked up pretty quickly, not taking a ton of time to set things up, instead doing that as things moved along. Pretty good misdirection in the beginning opens up a nice mystery at a later point. I was definitely pulled into the story and was investing in how it would play out. The narration was a bit robotic in tone, and I’m not sure if that was intentional, but I found it distracting at times, and it pulled me out of the story, which can be frustrating. But overall I really enjoyed the book, and I liked how it tied into the Blind Barriers trilogy at the end, something I was hoping they would do.
I received this audiobook free in exchange for my honest and fair review.
