What can I say? I’m a sucker for the scarred warriors and their feisty mates! I love Ava Ross and have read at least one book from all of her series. This series is turning out to be a favorite. I love that each alien is different. They are sweet, kind and protective. So good! This book was great and the narration was superb.

I had forgotten about this series until recently; didn’t realize more books were added. The storyline is unique and holds my attention. Narrators did a great job with characters. On to the next book!

Cinnamon Roll Alien Males who just want to be loved and accepted by their human mates. They are forced to participate in the Galaxy Games which are watched throughout the “universe “ in space. The couple must complete 3 trials to reach freedom. Zonir was a sweet heart, Kami was okay, a little frustrating in the beginning but I’m interested to see how this series ends.

I regret purchasing all four at the last sale. Each book features a manchild alien who has spent his life in captivity and has never been with a woman. So, there’s a lot that feels like a teen in a man’s body overjoyed that a woman is letting him get down. If we’re talking about alien wish fulfillment, I go for aliens with brains and experience. I don’t find first-time nooky sexy, in either of the two. Campy humor? Yes please. Syrupy cuteness? Pass.

And yes, I get that this is alien romance, but there should be some consistency in the rules for fated-mates. But, here there are four aliens of different species who coincidentally find their fated mates in four humans. What are the odds? How they can identify their fated-mate is different: mate in book 1 let’s him see color, mate in book 2 is found by her smell, and here, she gives him back his emotions. Ugh. Worse, on top of insta-love, there’s a lot of Camilla and Zomir talking about feelings and getting beyond relationship betrayal (her from domestic abuse and him from parental abuse). A lot of blah, blah, it’s okay to have mixed feelings, etc.

The whole gladiator games thing is nonsensical. This book’s game referee/overseer is particularly hyperbolic, changing the rules and beyond evil. The premise is that the universe gambles on whether the pair will survive. Why would anyone gamble on a game with no rules, where the referee is rigging the outcome? In every book, random characters pop in to help the couple survive. And, most convenient, each alien and human just happen to have traits and skills to help them. Here, Zomir just happens to be a lab-created furnace, which comes in handy being dropped onto an ice planet. This was the third strike, signaling this author isn’t for me.
