Publisher's summary

When Susan Lucci and All My Children were introduced to the world in 1971, American television changed forever. Susan's character, the beautiful, spirited, and mercurial Erica Kane, was an original. But while millions have enjoyed getting to know Erica's many sides, the woman who plays her has remained a mystery.

In her long-awaited memoir, this very private entertainment icon pulls back the curtain to reveal her own story. Warm, candid, and inviting, All My Life chronicles Susan's journey from her childhood to playing Erica Kane and from finding true love to living that "Cinderella moment" when she finally won her Emmy.

As charming, down-to-earth, and compelling as the woman whose story it tells, All My Life reminds us of the power of dreams and how we can all find the courage and tenacity to make them come true.

Beyond Erica.....4 STARS better than expected~

PLOT: BIO of Susan aka Erica Kane.....

This starts with Susan Lucci talking about her life and family. She was raised like any other girl. But aspires to act early on. A popular cheerleader and high school acting classes fuel her drive. We learn of a serious accident and how fortune she was find a plastic surgeon resident stich up that lovely face and head. A failed engagement has her fascinated by Helmut Huber a man who will be her future husband. Helmut is a business man and master chef. Lucci is fortunate to TEST for a 15 year old girl who was "supposed to be on air every other Tuesday" Erica Kane a girl who ONLY thinks of boys dating and fashion. This luck of the draw has her in one of the BEST and most popular characters in daytime. An adult 22 year old Lucci is soon acting on the daytime soap opera All My Children. As the shows fan base increase so does Lucci's popularity. At 27 she is "crowned" Queen of the Soaps. Bless with daughter Liza and son Andreas she makes her family her priority. She is also fortune to be able to fulfil her acting destiny. This book is very good. Lucci has a great voice and this moves along very well. She is articulate and funny. We see the solid loving marriage and home she has made. I give this one 4 STARS for interesting and entertaining bio of the lovely Susan Lucci and her life. This bio also gives the close up story of her Emmy Nominations til finally a big win... 18 when she "finally took home her Emmy".....one of the most funny things that happened was she had happen was while filming All My Children as Erica who was supposed to clean out her SAFE for a quick get away.....and the CREW......put 20 Engagement Rings in there as a joke. LOL.....

Very Entertaining!

Susan Lucci's memoir is a very enjoyable listen!

I must admit--I am a fan from way back in the beginning years of All My Children, so I certainly knew bits and pieces of her story. But what a well-written and beautifully read book--I was truly surprised! She seems to be a lovely lady with a beautiful family, and I will always remember this memoir fondly and wish her well.

Perfection from La Lucci

What a fun listen! From the opening chapter at the Daytime Emmys when she won her long-awaited award to her last days on AMC...Susan tells us every story in between. I love hearing about her early days in New York and the sacrifices made by her and her husband. Like any good soap opera...Susan also included secrets and background into her famous life. If you love Susan or Erica Kane...you will love this book.

Entertaining Account of her Life

She recounts the story of her life and all that happened to her. She is a positive upbeat person. I appreciate how she speaks well of others. It wasn't a deep account of her life, but her personality shines through. You can tell she struggled at times with hoping she could have a career and be a good mother--however, she reconciles that.

Cinderella??

I have been an AMC fan since the show started when I was 15, and have always admired Erica Cain. I couldn't wait to hear about Susan's life, but have been disappointed in the book. I don't think I can hear one more gushy story of how wonderful her life has been. Perfect husband, perfect children, perfect parents, perfect career. Makes me want to be sick...
